PS. I have a white helmet, every little helps

Did a google search can't find anything. Can you post a link.

British Medical journal or Direct.Gov and others

Compared with wearing a black helmet, use of a white helmet was associated with a 24% lower risk (multivariate odds ratio 0.76, 0.57 to 0.99). Self reported light coloured helmet versus dark coloured helmet was associated with a 19% lower risk.
Utter cobblers.

My last five bikes and my last four helmets have been black... Hovis (RIP) was wearing a yellow helmet and rode a bright yellow bike - I'm not dead, therefore a black helmet and bike are safer.

Most bods ride with a headlamp on .if they cant spot that your lid isn't going to help I fear.

It's doesn't say black helmets it says darker coloured helmets.

Is it not more likely that there are far more Dark Coloured helmets in use than White helmets?
Could it also be influenced by fashion changes?
Bikes used to be more colourful, things have toned down a bit, black lids, bikes and clothing are popular lately so this will fudge figures imo.

Ive ordered white anyway

They only see you if they actually look your way.

In all seriousness, I've found that wearing all black and riding an all black bike to be safer. I'm told I'm silhouetted against everything else out there. Look down a typical street at any time of day and its a sea of different colours with reds, greens, blues, dayglos and all sorts in there. Now imagine a black blob moving across that wall of colour... that's me on my bike.

YC firmly sticks to this theory too. I used to have a black lid, I've now made a compromise and got a silver, black and white one. I ride more at night at the moment, if I was stupid enough to ride without my headlight on then clearly wearing a black lid would be of no benefit whatsoever but it makes not difference what colour it is at night with the light on. And as for riding in the day, a black helmet and clothing make for a far more obvious recognizable shape than white, particularly in bright sunny conditions. In my opinion anywho.

Just out of interest, why don't they add reflective strips to helmets? It could be done in an attractive manner I'm sure. Is it just a given that the clothing a biker wears should have reflective bits?

I guess you can put a sticker on fiber lids if you want too.

Hmmm, I'll have to look at those. Tried the new one from Spada, but it doesn't fit. At the end of the day though, the helmet I use for green laning does the job, it just doesn't look the part.

That would be me that needs those features. Specialone just needs a built in swear filter, and perhaps a pair of waders.
