Actually I am worried about giving them a change of address, as I might end up with one before renewal date. Suppose I could threaten with nono-renewal if they don't play nice. Villers post not giving me huge confidence though! Does it usually create such aggro, you'd think it would be pretty standard procedure?

That sounds like a triumph of hope over experience right there .

It'll cost you £40 anyway. That's MCE's standard fee for any alteration. Any change in the insurers premium is over and above that (unless it works out as a small reduction in premium. They'll just keep that for you - save you the trouble of spending it yourself).

If anyone's shopping around and thinks they might make a change during the year, check the brokers Terms of Business - that gives you a fuller idea of the actual price.

Everyone charges fees - you can't make money out of motor insurance business any other way these days - but MCE's are at the thicker end. Cancellation charges are particularly high.

I'm on about Bikesure now Tam, or is that the standard admin fee?

Ah sorry, I should have realised you were unlikely to still be with them.

Don't know anything about Bikesure, so I've got absolutely no business being in this thread. I got a bit enthusiastic when I saw an opportunity for MCE bashing.

Went with Bikesure today. Premium was a lot cheaper than my current renewal quote. Gave me pillion cover on all 3 bikes which others would not. Very helpful and thorough on phone. Sent docs straight away - no errors. So far so good. Thanks for the feedback !

If it was a paperwork error, fine. This wasn't, he knew rules fine and well. Was quite prepared to let Maria possibly unknowingly commit a licence losing offence.

IMO that deserves a punch in the mouth.

Oh yes, any excuse to tell folks that it is my view that MCE are a bunch of lying, dishonest gits. Similar story to Maria and Chris, infact it was the kindness of Chris's advice that finally got me a full refund after MCE tried to rip me off and left me on two occasions riding my bike uninsured, while still taking money from my account.

As for Bikesure, I used them when I had my 125cc Honda, never had a problem with them, but then I was 3rd party only to make it as cheap as possible. When it came to renewal, I found a slightly cheaper price else where and went to Swinton, who were numpties, but not in the same league as MCE. I even blogged about how mad MCE were because they were so awful.

So yeah, happy to MCE bash here too!
