I have done yoga, I did martial arts for several years, I swim, cycle, so I know how to stretch out my body I had to so I could do required moves in the forms.
I don't take pain killers everyday, more like a break glass situation I try not take anything just sometimes you have to. I had four injections in my neck, as well which was painful to say the least. Yeah I have had a nerve conduction test, they are doing the test again. I don't want meds, pills, drugs casue they just mask the problems, I want the issue fixed then none of that will be required. Yes it may never be 100% but they can do a dam sight more than the current weak attempts. I understand about just getting on with it, but I have trying that and been like yeah its all fine you know its hard to keep that up. Last edited by metalmonkey; 10-10-12 at 07:35 PM. |

You are just full of excuses and wildly unrealistic expectations, so to be honest, I don't think you're ever going to get what you are hoping for. Managing it doesn't mean just getting on with life, but there is no point in me explaining what you should do, because you will say you have already tried it, or dismiss it or not bother trying it because it is not what you want. I'm out. |

My poor old Mum takes serious painkillers everyday. Yep it does sort of mask the problem. Well only a bit, as it's osteoarthrytis, which hurts a lot. But nothing the docs can do will fix the problem for her.
She lives with it. I'm out too. I'm not sure what you thought a bike forum could offer you that a forum of medics couldn't

I'm seeing an Osteopath. I haven't tried Accupuncture yet, but was told to so something like that one at time to see what actually shows results and doesn't. That what I was advised. The point is that I don't want to meds at all, the side effects just really effect me, its like being drunk or worse thats no good. I'm going to put on something that has less effects thats the plan. Yes I'm not happy, but shot happens right? |

Sometimes chasing a diagnosis, and getting one, won't make any difference to how you manage your condition. And at present you don't seem to be managing your condition, but you do appear to be letting it manage you.
Let's take a step back in the process and start with what you need to so that you can have a semblance of a life. When a Doc says take these meds when you need to take them, take the damn meds. If they cause side effects, talk to the Doc about altering the meds - the alternative is let the condition intrude too much in your life. And whilst that is going on chase the Docs for a diagnosis. If their diagnosis is confirmed, and you've got to live with the outcome, then get on with living. P.S. talk to Rictus about managing pain and living life. P.P.S. I'm in pain pretty much everyday, and have been for 7 yrs. If I get a couple of bad days together I take the meds, and if its a few bad weeks I'll resort to physio. I use the sports injuries clinic at the local Uni, which cost £40 a session.

The point is that you are not accepting that this may be the case and are raging at the world about how unfair it is to you, that its a conspiracy manufactured just for you. Big secret, its not, its just life, no-one said it would be fair. Most of your posts and threads of late have been in the same vein, about how badly life is treating you. Pick yourself up, stop seeing yourself as the victim of the piece. So, you can't go and trek to film what you would like to, put it in the "maybe someday" pile and find projects that you ARE capable of. Everyone has limitations put on the by "the world", a lot of them gathered in London a few weeks ago and showed what they could do, just with determination and courage. Youtube some of the highlights, watch them, try and learn from them and draw a line, look at it, step over it and never look back at this chapter. You CAN achieve great things, I said it before when we have talked in person, its just that you may have to make a few view-point changes to do these great things. I hope that you don't see this as some kind of attack, you should know me well enough that the words above are me trying to help, not put you down or slag you off.

You are dismissing probably over a hundred years of medical expertise as being useless, yet, you believe you know that there is something can be done. Listen to Bri W, he speaks sense. Listen to SK, he speak sense. We are not saying these things to be nasty, we are genuinely trying to get you to a point where you can accept that you may never get what you want with this. We all have things that we have to put up with day to day. Learn to deal with that, or things will only get worse. And don't bad mouth the medical profession when you are not willing to take meds because of side effects. Talk to the doctors...they can usually sort that out! |

My opinion is the same as pretty much everyone today Chris.
I have suffered, sometimes extreme, pain in my right knee since I was a child. It sucks. I'm shattered tonight but I can't sleep because of the pain. And I have taken my diclofenac and codeine. I don't take my meds all the time. I take them when I can no longer cope with the feeling that someone is gnawing away at my knee from the inside. Listen to the Drs. They, in the main, are good people, doing a good job. They may, I suspect, be trying to tell you that what ever is wrong is un-fixable. Which will suck. Big time. But as SK said, sometimes that's life. Mate, you did the job I do for a while. Things could be so much worse for you. That doesn't mean I am dismissing your problems, just saying look at what else you have got and focus on that. And keep the meds for the days you need them to get you through. |
