Cheers for the fix chap. I was struggling to construct that sentence in a way that truly made sense.

Full disclosure: I've not read this entire thread.

You know what the AR needs most of all? More than anything in the whole universe?

People to get behind it.

If it's not where you'd have put it, or run the way you want it run, then that's a shame, but I really don't see it as crucial. My criteria for turning up to the AR are as follows:
1) Can I make that weekend?

If yes, I go. If no, I don't.

What I think the AR needs least in the whole world is a bunch of people slagging off the organisers and the way it's being run, way before it starts.

Last AR the arguing and messing about damaged people's enthusiasm. Everyone that turned up had a great time. They would also have had a great time up north.

None of us own the process, or the AR. If having the proposal listed without any squabbling and hard feelings is the way we don't have a repeat of last year's scuffles, then that's what has to happen.

This is an example----------possibly even a proposition

SCOTCH CORNER, Not as daft as it sounds, you have a campsite less than 500yds from the motorway,Travelodge on the services[[Roomshare] Scotch Corner Hotel for the more discerning, pub next to the campsite for meals, all within a walking distance of each other[1/2mile] the campsite is spotless but a tad expensive at £10 per night.I am sure a group rate could be negotiated. Shops in Middleton Tyas.
Route 1
A6108-Richmond-Leyburn-A684-Hawes-Sedbergh-A683-A685 Brough-A66-Penrith[lunch] A685-A686-Alston-A689-A68 West Auckland-A688-Staindrop-B6274-B6275-A66-Scotch Corner
Route2 as alternative or for the Sunday
Scotch Corner-A1-B6271-Northallerton-A168 Thirsk-A170-Scarborough-A171-Whitby[lunch]-A171-A173-Stokesley-A172-A19-A684-Northallerton-A167 Croft-back to Scotch Corner.

Scotch Corner is on the A1 so simple to find and please note not exactly on my doorstep[Essex] but central for UK

Just my two cents, and an opinion I think is shared by many others I spoke to at AR12.
I do think you have it in one four cent's then

I dont frequent this place as much these days as I once did but for me part of the thing with the AR was wanting to have it your own area so you could show everyone how good your roads were, how good your campsite was and how good your hospitality could be and basically have a laugh and a drink with your mates old and new, unforunately it was always tied in with bitching, crying and whinging as well, anyone remember the AR Viper organised down at the farm ? wheres Viper these days ? may be its the way forward, I dunno, but if you start imposing things wtithout discussion this place will get even quiter than it is now, just my opinion.

Can we get some facts straight before this turns into another slag fest.

All the details DO NOT have to finalised '8 months' beforehand, only the proposal.
The winning bidder will have more than ample time to finalise details before the event date.

Contrary to popular belief, there isn't a sinister element in mods corner, no own agendas, no them and us etc, each bid would be awarded fairly.
I would give my opinion there as much as I would in the public parts, the chosen venue will change every year so members all over the country get a chance to have the AR somewhere kind of close to them at some point.

It's not fair to keep having it down south or up north as it puts people from the opposite ends of the country further away and this affects attendance IMO.

I can assure you from one of the newest mods, some of you are reading way too much into this, just chill and it will all be good

Nice one Phil!

And apologies for chopping your post but I wanted to pinch part of your last sentence.

A rhetorical question or two; does anyone really believe the mods would pick an inferior venue? Would you lay yourself open to attack by blatantly showing favouritism? Doing so would start a huge slag fest, and I'm sure even if one Mod had a quirky preference the balance of them all discussing it would ensure a balanced outcome.

For those conspiracy theorists; "its behind you!"

I think it's a shame we don't all vote.

a) Because as contributors we should have a vote. It makes us feel part of it.
b) Because last years carry on was hilarious. Such scandal, skull duggery, passion, tantrums and handbags.

It was brilliant sport, democracy as it's best. This is what people always do. It's in our nature. Trying to manage that element out of a public forum is overkill IMO. Either way I'll still probably go if the dates suit.
