The biker "begged" for it. I can't find any sympathy for him and his action.

As others have said - good object lesson - well posted.

Vid demonstrates just how fast it happens and was very familiar to me with my recent off. In my case I was in my own lane, not overtaking and the car up front and ahead in the other lane threw a crazy U-turn across my lane. I went down a little slower than the guy in the vid but I had a fraction more space than him. Weren't enough tho'.

more SPACE = more TIME

Absolutely the bikers fault. It was careless driving, not taking in any of the obvious signs regarding the junction, the brake lights or anything like that.

What I'm more impressed with is those fantastic roads. I think we'd all be riding a lot more like that if we weren't **** scared of going over a pot hole. Where was that taken, I wan to move there.

100 percent bike riders fault. End of story. Regardless of if the car indicated or not. You don't overtake at a junction, simple. Any doubts were dismissed when he crossed the solid double lines.

After looking at the vid again.

It does look like he noticed the car stoping just as he got up close as he stopped gaining speed. It also looks like he slamed on the front and locked up the front as the speedo was showing 0kph before he actualy hit the car.

It would have probably been better if he tried to turn, atleast the gamble might have paid off with the car realising and not continuing its turn.

Added note that is that was in the USA it would have been MPH in canada KPH.

I think the speedo has kph written on it

BTW, those GSXRs have the speedo pickup from the drivetrain, not the front wheel... the rear end was locked solid but I'm pertty sure the front was still spinning. (that does not strike me as being a rider who can keep it upright when the front slides...)

I reckon if he'd just dropped the hammer he'd have made it past... He was off the power for ages before the crash. In fact, he was way below the power band even when he was making his move. All in all, a donkey.

Where was his exit strategy? His standby in case he was blocked for whatever reason (matbe a minivan).

At that sort of speed he may have been lucky if he just cranked the bike over and tried to throw a sharp left. At times like these you find out what the tyres can take!

If it had the standard BT014's it would have sailed round, but I doubt that this particular rider has the experience to get round a sharp bend like that at speed (or he would have known better in the 1st place!).

You really need to see 8k on the rev counter before you are making any real power, and 11k before it really cuts in....

Not looked at others comments, so not sure if someones mentioned this already. But I don't care, I'm mentioning it anyway

There is clear double lines, meaning (I presume, is this in America?) no overtaking. Although the care driver should have checked his mirrors, I'm not sure it would stand up in court (it wouldn't likely go to court, but you know what I mean )

75/25 if he's lucky.

The biker ignored one important factor - a road sign telling him that the road follows to the left (i think that's what this US road sign means)
