You don't have a reference point unless you've driven a Trabant.

Beats me how anyone can make a 500cc (ish) 2-stroke twin that rough!

Mate of mine went in a group to Zwickau to buy just about the last dozen off the line. Cost about £1500 brand new, he was done!

Front and rear seat trim were different colour.
Petrol tap at the bottom of the windscreen.
Nasty, nasty, nasty.

Most pleasing car I recall was an early Toyota Celica 4-WD Turbo (1990 ish), just a delight, much under-rated.

Austin Maxi was horrid, 5 gears, all in the wrong place.

Hillman Hunter rotted away while you watched it.

First "car" I had was a Reliant Regal Mk.6 Don't go there.

"Best" car I've had is my current W-reg Yaris, does what it's supposed to.

"Sweetest" car is my Suzuki Cappuccino, aaaaaaah, bless!

Car I look back on with the biggest grin is a prototype twin turbo Jaguar XJS (when I worked there) with a "combat" 3.6L engine delivering 400+BHP (that's real BHP, not press-release nonsense). Couldn't keep it in a straight line in the wet! Brilliant

How come no-ones mentioned the Maestro? Launched in the early eighties and supposed to be the real up-to-date car in the Austin Rover range. It was CRAP. I had one and it ran rough, handled poorly and had loads of faults. One of the nails in the coffin of British car manufacturing.

I've had a beetle and two type 2s', the aircooled engine is just a pile of utter ****e. I'm sure it was perfect in prewar germany, cutting edge no doubt. But there is no place in the world for somethin so utterly hideous. As for reliable, well they just aint. Great marketing though, fooled us all.
Worst car however has to go to a Morris Marina, 1970 it was, 2nd hand. List of faults as follows:
Hooky MOT
No pads in the front
No second gear
You had to hold it in Third gear
Leaked petrol
Intermittant electrical fault
Both front seats had broken so that when you pulled away they both reclined, great for developing your abs
Non existent damping
Holes in the floor
Drivers window held up with gaffer

White MG 1100 "F reg - first time round - if my memory serves well"

Well white between the rust patches.

Needed the suspension pumping up every 2000 or so miles.

But, its favourite trick to catch the unwary was to occasionally let the gear leaver come out in you hand!!!

Poxy thing nearly killed me!

Hmmm. Let me see, I've had a few.

Austin Allegro (first car) , Sierra 1.6 ( steering rack fell off ) , Sierra Sapphire ( a real gem. NOT) , Escort 1.6i Mexico ( should have been shot at birth). As you can see I'm not a big fan of Ford. One more reason why the car industry is f*cked in this country

Last house I bought I had to sell EVERYTHING to raise the deposit, so I bought a Datsun 100A for £50. It served me faultlessly for a year and I got my £50 back as well.

Worst car I've had must be a 2.8 Granada auto. Like driving 2 tons of lard around.
