As I suggested earlier, I suspect it might just be (or partially be) the leaver isn’t really far enough out to start with for my liking … so I have just gone out and bodged/wedged a bit of cable-tie in to space the adjuster out a bit more. I’ll see how it goes with that … just playing with it stationary, it already seems much nicer (i.e. 2 fingers and I can pull nice and hard without hitting remaining fingers ).

Yup, I put my Brembo 16x18 radial onto the standard calipers, much nicer. But then, those were well fettled calipers (well, they were scabby, but they worked )

Which master cylinder have you got there? About 3 or 4 times a year someone "upgrades" to the older GSXR m/cs on SV Rider and telsl everyone how great it is, not realising they're exactly the same

So a radial GSX-R 600/750 (2004/2005 model) master cylinder would improve braking with the stock SV calipers? I thought I read somewhere it's a 16 mm M/C and the stock M/C is 14 mm.

Stock calipers are pants, mine will be gone by the weekend
