Other than that an IL4 with a realworld tune, like the K1200R, cos its like a twin

In which case go for an IL4. In terms of pure straightline speed and quarter miles times etc you will see that even an RSV doesn't really offer much over the latest IL4 600's let alone an IL4 750 or 1000.

So you can spend £8k on an RSV or £5500 on your ZX6R and how hard a choice is that? Sure you don't have the mid range but you only sit at 5000rpm on the IL4 when you are commuting. When you decide to go fast you keep it between 8000 and 15500 where the thing always has psycho power on tap so whats the problem especially as you get a much lighter and nimble bike!? This mid range business is overplayed anyway as the IL4 just has shorter gears to compensate. So what you find is that a lack of mid range never feels like a problem, it is the constant buzzy screaming of the motor that can get on your t*ts.

I will go onto a 1000 IL4 next (I want less buzzyiness and more horses at all revs) and once I am bored of that then I definitely would look at a 1000 VTwin sports bike for that extra personality but first I need to get some adrenaline out of my system.

Very true about speed per dollar, but I already think my sv is fast enough lol. If I did buy a bigger bike I'd want it to be reliable, good looking and able to ride two-up with less issues. I understand a sportbike and riding two-up isn't usually the best combo, but I don't plan to buy a harley any time soon.

I dunno about you guys, but the original '98-99 R1 still looks pretty damn nice for a bike that's coming up on ten years old. I'm not sure what bike I'll get eventually, but it will probably be either an RC51 or ZX6R ('05+). I've also been a little into the vtr1000 firehawk and TL1000s, both bikes seem to be quite a bit of what I want and I don't really plan for much track time or extremely fast/hard riding on the street.

Couple of guys have mentioned it already but it definitely at Triple for me next

Went from a curvy sv to cbr600rr... used the curvy again last week for first time and it felt like i was riding a cruiser felt sooooo low...

Probably an il4, because they are just so easy to ride. The quality components, and after riding Kate's gixxer, the comfort.

IL4's offer more choice and are cheaper than equivalent twins new/nearly new (except for SV and derivatives of). Would I rather have a Ducati 999 or a GSXR750/1000? If I was paying GSXR wins every time. Even if I wasn't and going purely for riding experience I'd still go for the GSXR but I do love the Duke's looks and sounds.

My potential next bike changes on an almost weekly basis.

I'd agree with Tricky, my potential next bike is different everytime I go looking at different bikes.

I would say though that despite the big differences in the engine confiurations, that isn't what effects my choice of bike really. I can quite happily be happy with a v-twin or an IL4.

Personally, at the moment my ideal bike would be either a GSX-r750 or the Triumph 675 (never tried a triple before!)

Interesting question! I'd like to go inline 4 for next bike just so i've experienced both! But I love the low end pull of the Vtwin and the sound is just amazing! I think I'll go for a GSX-R 750 next (after I've paid off the SV) n then I'd like to get an SP-2 or an RSV... Hmmm ... the possibilities!
