I am pleased to throw my cap in the ring of the hardy more manly kinda of biking person that rides all year round. My weekend Warrior enjoyment is not to be interrupted by mere weather!

I ride in everything, and some of the time it's utterly, utterly ****. I figure on getting a car this year, if I ever get my finger out and get my licence that is. Cold's fine, I've got the gear. Even rain's fine. But I rode about a thousand miles without ever seeing a dry road last november, and that's just rubbish.

Riding in lying snow's just not clever, I'll do it but every time's the last. I rode in one day, it was clear where I am and there was an inch of snow 5 miles away at my work. Half the rest of the office phoned in because it was unsafe to drive But I'd have turned around if I'd known it'd get worse, I live up a hill so it usually lies at mine then stops halfway down the road. And the next day I binned it in my driveway.

Your roads affect it too... Up here, the council are like grit ninjas, they're out there invisibly salting the roads before we even get up, so that main roads usually stay ice and snow free, more or less.

They're actually talking about rain, Peter. All year round, in the UK, actually does mean rain and snow.

i ride in the ice and snow due to lack of car/snowmobile/batmobile.

the only time (touch wood) that i dropped it was in the ice a few years back. i was on my trusty steed of doom (read 100cc scooter) when i was going down a hill at around 10 mph, unfortunatly some twunt had decided that clearing their windscreen with boiling water was a good idea, leaving a nice lake of black ice at the bottom.

needless to say i went sideways surfing.

also did a 2am trek from rochester to london on the A2 in a Blizzard on my old diversion. sideways wind, freezing cold riding over a bridge. i think i had half the seat clenched firmly between my cheeks which was probably the only thing that kept me upright

i love winter me.

All year round for me,but my winter milage is much lower as I tend to avoid long out of town rides in dodgy weather.Riding in snow is no fun,but at least you know it's there and can treat it with the respect required.Patches of black ice are possibly more of a danger.

I usually buy a crappy 125 with enough power to get me through the winter, even though last year i dropped the one i was using 16 times trying to get it outta my street, laughing the whole time. but this year i'm a student, so it could be the dreaded bus for me this winter.

Have ridden all my previous bikes every day through the winter , wrote my zxr750 on heavy snow last year therefore give snow a miss , trouble is I got caught out on the zxr , snowed when I was on a training course & should have left my bike there (lessoned learned 6 inchs of fresh snow on country roads is a no no ),
Looking for a hack at the moment as don't want to ruin my k5 sv already not great finish

cheers Steve
