I've not had any "competitions" with cage drivers since moving back to south wales. It seems no one trys it here. When I lived in Cirencester, every weeknight ride in the summer months I'd come across at least one or two sportscars who fancied their chances.
![]() I'm suprised an EVO was from the sounds of it, blocking your overtakes. I normally find people in Evos and Scoobys to be amongst the best in their rear observation and most courteous in letting you pass. I think it's because they tend to be people who actually like to drive fast themselves and have a fairly similar mindset to bikers, unlike sports car drivers, who often seem to buy them for the image and can't drive for toffee: Pootling along at sub speed limit speeds and they have no idea how to use a fraction of their cars abilites, brake far too hard for corners, etc. |

My stepson has rolling roaded his and saw 300+ BHP. Just changed the turbo and thinks he will get 350 when its set up properly. ![]() Saw one with him the other week with a cliamed 600BHP and from the way it went I've no reason to doubt that. |

You will need a good £15k-£20k plus to get that kinda power from a GTI-R.. Highest powered ones in this country arn't even touching 500bhp, let alone 600.. Sound like pub talk to me..
Thing is, with all 4x4, they are great up to 100mph, but go from 100mph+ and they suffer big time with transmission losses... Sorry to say, but i regulary see sports bikes whooped by tuned cars... Even had the pleasure of sitting next to a bike from the passanger seat of a Supra, biker tucked under the bubble, supra eased passed.. But then i've also seen a Turbo'd Mk2 AStra GTE analihate a CBR600 (older shape) from different gears and different speeds... Don't get me wrong, i love my bikes, nothing like it, but theres also nothing like hitting 100mph in 10-12 seconds in a tunded car, g-force pushing you into the seat. Thats the only thing i miss about the bikes, the g-force and you've got nothing to push into. But its horses for courses, bikes mostly arn't tuned, and for outright acceleration, your going to need a silly BHP skyline or supra to keep up with a properly setup turbo'd Busa... Our cars will eat my SV from 80-90+, but from a standing start, all cars would loose out embarrassingly.. |

Yep I've been in some tasty cars, Viper RT10, Porsche GT3 and an AC Cobra. But nothing comes even close to the yank to get from a bike (a good bike that is). My SV used to keep up with WRX STI scoobies and that thing was a good £25k's worth with 4 wheel drive. Also beaten many a Supra Twin Turbo from the lights, they are just too lardy to be of any competition for a good bike with a half decent rider. Top end cars win of course against an SV. And all that fun for about £5'000, bargain! My mates Blackbird kills everything in sight, had some awesome rides out with him.

For all you anoraks out there, go to http://letstorquebhp.com/fwd.asp
Check out how bad the standard 1/4 times are compared even to the 'humble' SV. ![]() |

Personally I think my GBP3.5k 280bhp 4wd scooby legacy GT-B (with twin turbos)was pretty good value, fair enough it's an old '96 import, but hoping it should be pretty quick (160mph top speed reputedly, they were they held the land speed record for fastest production estate for a while), insured as of tomorrow. Don't worry I'll be watching out for the bikes too.
![]() Agree about the kick thing, bikes & cars please me in different ways, I feel lucky to have one of each, both of which i enjoy. With the bike it's not just the acceleration, but the whole lean thing combined with being out there in the open, it is more 3-D than being in car. The scooby Legacy can also take my surf boards on the roof or in the boot, another thing the SV can't do! |

My 2.0 Corsa = 15.2 @ 96mph (Its heavy though, stripped i'd be doing mid 14s..) - 155bhp Our 2.0 Turbo Corsa = 15.0 @ 105mph, again, heavy car, it will do low 14's.... 215bhp Our VXR = 14.6 @ 98 odd mph... 237bhp.. My SV650S - 12.7 @ 107mph....... Bike kills most cars off the line, but try a car from say 30-40-50mph, and an SV will loose out a lot of the time.... Hell even my friends Turbo Corsa reals in my SV (Tested on the way to Pod, i'd get the jump, but he'd real me back in, and thats just a poncy Corsa......). Most "plays" will happen at 30mph. Its rare to go off the lights. But as said, each has their own good points. I love pushing a car on track round a corner as hard as possible, but then I also love hanging off my bike, ground 1/2 meter from my face etc... Both have their own good points. Im not biased as i love both... |
