Been home about an hour. Incredibly wet Friday, Rossi and Capirossi all over the place neither looked comfortable,
Damp then Sunburnt on Saturday, Rossi still not looking comfortable. P*ssed down this morning and freezing cold still, Awesome Ride by Stoner IMHO, smooth swift, genius. Well done Bradley to, not as good as we would have hoped but, beat his teamate, made up places, and he got a great reception from the crowd as well. I've got sh*t loads of photos I'll sort them out a bit later on.

Are we in danger of seeing a Rossi/Honda/Michelin type dominance repeated now by Stoner/Ducati/Bridgestone. For the good of the sport I hope not.

Enjoyed the racing. Got wet in the morning but we were next to some folks who had a gazebo up and invited us in to shelter. They even ended up loaning us one of those beach shelter things - how kind!!
TBH I can only see some kind of disater like a bad injury stopping stoner this season. Hopefully the other manufacturers will evolve the 800cc technology over the rest of the season and the winter to make it tighter next season. Having said that Casey's success is turning out to be due as much due to skills & temperament beyond his years as it is Ducati / Bridgestone technology. Interesting to see that until he went down Hayden seemed more competitive with his traction control inactive. |

PH would have loved to see Ducati dominence. But Capirossi has proved its the man not the machine.
Pedrosa moans about been third...Leo espanol...quizas...Melandri is in a far worse position. |

Got soaked on Friday, Sunburnt Saturday and wet on Sunday, but well worth every penny. It was worth the £80 just to see my sons face when Vermeullen passed Rossi
![]() ![]() Stoner seemed fast all weekend & when Mamola said that he did his fastest qualifying lap on race tyres, but complained about front end chatter, I was amazed...... He will be World Champ this year - barring any catastrophe.

Nice picture.
A great ride from Stoner. He looked fast on both the Saturday and Sunday. I was a little surprised when the Yamahas qualified so well, as neither Valentino or Colin looked particularly quick through Craner Curves and the Old Hairpin. Perhaps it was just appearances, though? I was really hoping Colin would break his duck with this race -- and this year's Curse of Pole -- but when you saw Stoner hunting him down and the dry line appearing, you could guess what was going to happen. He did really well to finish second and ahead of Rossi. A great second half of the race from Vermuelen, too. Watching him come back through the field and reeling Valentino in was great. There were some very aggressive moves being pulled through Craner Curves and the Old Hairpin during the first few laps. John Hopkins, in particular, was awesome through there. He clashed fairings a couple of times that I saw. Poor old Dani, too. That tankslapper he had on Saturday morning was terrifying to see. I thought he started really well, passing Edwards like that on the first lap. He's getting better in the rain, but the passing manoeuvres he suffered seem to really rattle him. Did he have a problem with the bike? There was an interesting article the other week on the BBC coverage, with Steve Parrish talking about how Honda may have taken mass centralisation too far with the RC212V. He was saying that it caused most problems during braking, where there wasn't as much forward weight transfer. Great in theory, but in practice means the riders can't feel what the front end is doing when they brake, so they lose confidence in the front and can't stop as hard or as late as they would like. I think this is part of the cause of Pedrosa's braking problems. He's never been the last of the late brakers, but this is being exaggerated by the fact that he doesn't have total confidence in the front end of his bike. I felt gutted for Nicky Hayden. He's really suffering this year, but he's not been blaming the machine the whole time, he's said that he's made mistakes and needs to adapt to the new 800s. He really seemed to have turned the corner this weekend and it would have been great to have seen him have a top-five finish. But the RCV's front end did for him, too. I think Edwards is right in what he said. Dani has been Honda's Golden Boy for a while now, and the change to 800s was ideally suited for some of his stature, and I'm pretty sure the RC212V was designed more with Sr. Pedrosa in mind than Mr Hayden. Honda are really going to have to pull their finger out. The highest Honda finisher was Dani, but in eighth place. Oh dear, oh dear. I'll shut up now!
