I've had a few bad experiences with the quality of Frank Thomas stuff to the extent I wouldn't go near it again. Goretex socks are brilliant for keeping your feet dry (or their cheaper alternative - Morrisons plastic bags...)

I wear Sidi Verteba 2 Tepors- they're the old-style Vertebras but with the Black Rain's waterproof material. Not Goretex, but kept my feet veeeeery close to dry over the AR, and I was wearing them constantly on the ride and in the field. Very good boots IMO, I'd prefer goretex but they've done 2 winters of commuting now without so much as a leak. Don't entirely trust them not to tomorrow is the thing, but they keep on doing OK.

What I particularily like about them is that they've got the full race-boot tackle and protection, and toe sliders etc. I don't need toesliders on the road, but if you crash you tend to do a lot of toesliding and these can make the difference between damaging the boot or the waterproof layer, and not.

I was wearing them last time I came off and half the slider was gone from when my foot was under the bike, as well as assorted bits of hard armour elsewhere. If that'd been just boot rather than the big ugly sllider then I'm pretty sure they'd have been wrecked (if not my little toesies). They also help protect against scuffs etc, I'm forever scraping my feet on things and it can damage them over time.

They were quite expensive at RRP though, I got mine from Germany for less than Black Rains but they were about £180 officially, just too expensive for what they are.

Another vote for the Daytonas, not cheap but they work.
