I did have one many years ago---a Desmo 250 in bright yellow, and it crap*ed all over the competition then, but the competition is stronger now.

And the 851...

And the 888.

Also dominated World Superbikes back in the day when 750's were the sports bikes. (400cc replaced by 600cc, 750cc replaced by 1000cc).

They were also stunning bikes for the time.

Many years ago when I was in a less fortunate financial position than I'm in now, I had a test ride on a Desmo 500. It was superb, but I couldn't afford one, although it left a lasting impression to the extent that I am worried about test riding a Duke now as I might just buy one

They really have got smaller over the years though, and I'm not sure that I would comfortably fit on one (OK, I have got a bit bigger as well ).

Too many bikes and not enough time to enjoy them...

Exclamation Re: would you Buy Ducati coz of MotoGP?

The only ducati i would buy because of stoner is this one :

unfortunatly it will never ever happen as they are very limited and cost the same as a house...
here is what ducati say :

The Desmosedici RR will be available with a special race kit that includes a 102dB racing exhaust, a dedicated CPU, bike cover and paddock stand. A new dedicated service plan is also included to give each Ducati Desmosedici RR owner the benefit of a three-year warranty and three years of scheduled maintenance free of charge.

Two versions of the RR will be available. The ‘Desmosedici RR’ finished in ‘Rosso GP’ with a white number plate on the tail-section and the ‘Desmosedici RR Team Version’ finished in ‘Rosso GP’ with a broad white stripe on the fairing as with the Factory race bikes. A team sponsor decal kit will be provided with each bike.

And to finish :

Reservations for the Desmosedici RR have been accepted via the official Ducati dealer network since 2 June 2006 and will continue to be taken until 31 December 2007. Production will begin in October 2007 and first deliveries will be made to 999R owners who placed their Desmosedici RR order before 30 September 2006. Production of all remaining orders will be completed by December 2008.

I know alot of people say that reliability issues should be ignored but I use my bike as a permanent mode of transport not a toy so reliability is important for me, if I could afford a ducati asa toy though, then yes I would by one simply because they are sex on whee;s nothing to do with gp.

Would you buy a Supercar as an every day car?????

Or would you buy a cheaper tried and tested machine, like an Audi or something?

Same way, would you buy an SV for every day, or would you prefer a 1098? I'd go for the SV for every day use. Like a supercar, top end sports bikes come out only every so often.

AS for :

Thats what i mentioned on the other page. About £40,000....

It would be a better investment for Ducati to go around and buy up all the 13 year old Ducati's ....

And scrap them.
Than what they have invested in Moto GP. Then their reputation might improve quicker.
