Back on topic. My smile of the day is that whilst writing the above I remembered the look on my sons face after I had let him loose on my GSXR track bike for the first time...... Priceless!

Sounds like I'm thinking the right way, and maybe get her insured on our little Suzuki just to get her NCD started.

painful it might be money wise, but the cars paid for.

Worth checking to see if she can still build a NCB as a named driver on your existing policy, I've heard some companies will do that, especially if you have been with them a while and they are likely to get her business when she gets her own car.

Thanks, we're currently with Admiral on a multi car policy, although we only switched last year.

Worth checking out I think

We gave her back to the school for a few more lessons before her test and she passed first time, in their car. My wife then had to buy a new car as she'd lost the old one!

We tried similar with my son however he was a bit keener (like he bought a car a month before his 17th birthday and I had to take him for his first drive at one minute past midnight....). He passed the theory part of the test on his birthday and tried to get a cancellation practical for the next day, but fortunately we talked him out of that and he had to wait a month! The irony was it actually took him four attempts to pass his practical, (you can just imagine the stick his sister gave him....) as he just got so nervous in the school car and made silly mistakes. In the end he did it in his own car and went straight through with only a single "minor".

did my test after only 6 lessons in my own car (no power steering and only 4 forward gears too), just practised tons with my mum in the passenger seat.

I think there is a certain satisfaction at doing it in your own car, but I do think it's wise to get a few lessons with a professional even if just to learn what is expected on test.

Did a similar thing as Chris.

But I had to unlearn the bad habits were I been driving before.
My capri only had 4 gears like most cars in them days Chris.
But it definitely needed traction control!!

Mk1 Ford Escort for me. We called it sideways control in those days and you certainly needed it!

Smile of the day - Transferring my insurance on the VFs to Carole Nash and seeing it drop to £154 a year fully comp, for 4 bikes with no mileage restrictions and no excess.
Saved me over £1000 a year, so understandably happy.
