John, as soon as the feature updates are released I download them and put them on a pen drive as a bootable iso. I actually download the file which covers all the different flavours of windows (64bit/32bit etc). I can install them at my leisure then and also do the updates on the PCs of my clients with poor internet speeds.

Yes, I've been reading that people do that. I might well do that nextime, trouble is how do you stop the automatic updates? I know you can switch on 'metered connection' but I've found that a bit hit and miss.

From 1903 onwards, it just notifies you that the update is ready to get. You have the option of pausing updates from Updates and Security in Settings. You can pause them for up to 35 days.

I read that too. You get a few more options with the pro version. I'd still prefer to have full control of my own destiny though. Tell me that I have an update ready, nag me even to do it but let me decide when to apply it.

It's that time of year again. I got my bike insurance renewal this week from Hastings and it is £25 more expensive than last year. I called and there was no budge from them on price.

Went to Gocompare and found Carole Nash was £50 cheaper, The only difference was the compulsory excess, £250 rather than £150.

Why do I have to go through this every year?

I was in the pub near work at lunchtime and saw a small sign on the wall. Apparently in future KTM bikes will be sold with a free dog.

That way the owners won't have to walk home on their own.

My renewal last week was about £650 up from £550 last year with Bennetts. I got the same deal (fully comp, breakdown, helmets and leathers, euro cover) with Bemoto for only £350. I think they hope you are too lazy to look around and will just accept the auto-renewal.

Exactly that. It never pays to keep the same insurance any more. I alternate between Bennett's and Carole Nash every other year to keep quotes cheaper.
