Yep, so right -- used the basic stand today ( didn't need the front lift arm fitted ) to properly clean / degrease the chain and surrounding bits like rear wheel rim and apply Wurth dry chain lube, which is supposed not to pick up dirt ( to act like grinding paste ) and not fling off onto rear rim like all the other pricey 'non-fling' chain lubes I have tried so far.

Happy days

dry lube never sat well with me something I just think it's more likely to make a grinding paste I'd rather the fling.

I used to live next door to a lubrication specialist and he recommended
dry lube for chains and conveyors in all dusty and dirty environments like feeding pulverized coal into furnaces and quarries etc. He even gave me samples of dry lube and high temp anti sieze compounds for our cars and bikes ( and push bikes ). Some of their dry lubes back then were based on molybdenum disulphide and dried like a lacquer, but many of todays are based on PTFE ( Teflon ) and are invisible when applied. I have been using wynns clear lube and various other supposedly non fling lubes up to now, but I did notice how much smoother running the chain was after a good clean and spray with the wurth dry film, only time will tell how clean the chain stays and how long the lube lasts, but I certainly expect the rear wheel rim to stay cleaner, and no chance of lube on rear tyre.......

I use Wilkos 80w90 gear oil with a bit of Moly on my chain.I don't commute so wiping a bit of sling-off doesn't bother me.Done 8K on new chain and sprocket set and have barely had to adjust the chain yet.

Some good prices for stuff in Wilkos.I use their Big tins of GT85 PTFE(£3.00) on the chain if I'm doing my gear change/rear brake and clutch levers.

I've used their Dot 4 Brake fluid for years with no problems as well

So Oxford dry lube comes out pretty well as all round non fling, anti rust, and not allowing dirt to stick....as I mentioned earlier PTFE is amazing ( stops eggs sticking to frying pans as well ).

Heading out to meet a mate of mine who's riding down from Yorkshire tomorrow for a couple of days in Wales. Meeting in Nantwich for a late edition of one of Mr Morrison's finest all day breakfasts, before wending our way down a few wiggly roads back to Wales. Bike is all checked over and ready to go.

I do love a bit of a ride out.
