Re: The running thread!
Well, I'm back running, been taking it easy and not killing the distance or time just slowly building it all back up and fingers crossed its working, the achilles is till a bit tender but nowhere as bad as it was before so fingers crossed, got 4 halfs lined for this year so far, fleetwood, oxford, humber bridge and hopefully the GNR so something to look forward to, I'm trying to raise a bit of money for these guys http://www.216squadron.com/ but dont worry I'm not asking for anything from you all

Oucheeeeeee! Went out and did 2 miles, 25 mins. Slow and had to walk once or twice but bugger me my calves are tight again. I try stretching them gently but they just seem to get really tight, really quick. Any ideas anyone?

Deep heat! Tried and tested, keep gently stretching though.

Stewie, been there, done that. Just end up at square one again though. Idle, can't use deep heat, makes my skin flare up!

I got some new mizunos last year and found I was getting tight calves and cramps at first, turned out I was tending to turn my toes down whilst running, bit like when you wear flip flps, soon as I realised I was doing it it stopped almost immediately, might be worth popping along to a specialist running store and getting a gait anaylis on a treadmill check these out http://scottishrunningguide.com/runn...n_scotland.php Last edited by stewie; 14-02-12 at 03:08 PM. Re: The running thread!
Next Sunday, I'm lucky enough (?) to be running the Barcelona Half Marathon.
To date my longest run this year has been 4 miles. I have two hopes of finishing it well if at all, Bob Hope and No Hope. Just going to have to enjoy the Tapas. |
