I'm in for a rough week. For some reason I've been asked to support the business development team with a sales bid, first time in a year or more. Bafflingly they keep saying I'm responsible for writing a chunk of the draft contract? No, I'm an accountant, I work with numbers, not words. Thankfully my boss laughed and said he'd take it up with the CFO as that's not our job. Trouble is these guys are dedicated to bids and expect those of us seconded to the team to be entirely focused on them. Nope, I do this around my day job which takes priority, so don't expect me to help much during month end. That always makes moan about not "pulling together". Idiots. If I don't close the books properly and the results do not reflect true and fair then the directors can go to gaol and customers don't pay our invoices - both of which are fairly important.

I'd much rather be out on my bike. Come on retirement!!!!

Retirement sucks Trev. An ad hoc lunch today with friends & a few beers. Usually 4-5 times a week… off out with friends tomorrow morning for a brunch overlooking the sea- nah, you wouldn’t like it.

Did I fall asleep and miss August and September? We seem to have moved straight from July to October!

Ain't that the truth. I've mentioned before that I keep a log of the days when I've had a spin out on the bike, and how many miles I did.

This year to the end of July is the lowest mileage I've covered on the bike since 2020, between 1500 and 2500 miles less than previous years, and believe me, I've tried to get a ride in pretty much every day that the sky and roads are dry. The weather has simply been very changeable this year.

I've been lucky with the weather these last two days. Dropped Bullseye off yesterday morning at 8:30 for his initial service and fitting of aux lights and dashcam with Lady Poppy bringing me home after (work, boo). It turned to Autumn about an hour after we got back. After a wet start today it was scorchio by 4pm when we set off to get Bullseye back again.

Could not believe how rubbish the weather was for most of yesterday!
