See my Smile of the Day post....

Insurance companies, why oh why oh why don't they just send you the best price for renewal, instead of jacking up the price and hoping you won't notice! If they can afford to discount the renewal price by 35%, then that price must be a total **** take.

unfortunately I would say because the majority of people wouldn't question it and just pay it.....

My car insurance doubled at renewal this year. I let it expire then took a policy out with the same company at less than I paid the previous year.

It's nothing but a scam

Never ever go for the 'auto-renewal' option on anything or you will get ripped off.

Yep, my mother dearest did this for the house insurance without thinking of running it by me or my sister. **Turned out that she'd been paying £700 odd a year for a property with 24 garages and 16 rooms. Partly her fault for not checking details but also theirs, for not questioning the info..

Needless to say at renewal in feb this year it cost £130 which included my bicycles and activity cover for me whilst riding them.

**I've also made it my business to keep an eye on her outgoings, without being overbearing

My mum was also paying over the top so I told the insurance company not to auto renew the policy this year. Wasn't quite what your mum was paying, but a good couple of hundred.

If you're going to look after your mum's money in the future, then take out a Power of Attorney. Fairly straightforward online process, but if your mum get to the point of not being capable then it's much easier for you to look after her money.

I did this last year, and I'm glad I did, even though being responsible brings its own stress.

Now that my mum is in permanent residential care, it'll be down to me to sell her house to pay for her care.

My mum won't use the internet and won't deal with any of her financial affairs so her insurance ran out and she won't renew it. All part of her mental illness that we cannot get any help with and very frustrating.

I can imagine, I'm glad we sorted out my mum, as we'd be having the same problems as you

Vet bills of over £800 this month. Nothing serious, tooth removal with one, blood tests to monitor dodgy kidneys in the other. They are still cheaper than kids though.

Drizzle. All week I've been stuck in the office wanting to be out running in my new Trumpet. Saturday morning dawns and... it's raining. So annoying.
