Funnily enough, I've just worn out my third set (well, rear) of those. I think they're a very good tyre. The visible tread pattern around the centre wears away pretty quickly but there's still plenty of rubber left when it does. However, that does make it dificult to spot a tyre about to wear out (which is how I lost my last rear - punctured due to virtually no rubber left!)

As it happens I've replaced them with City Contact this time as the Sport Contact was was out of stock. Still Conti though, as I think they're the best tyre make out there for road use on MTB 26"ers.

I'm (procrastinating about) fixing up an old Yamaha FZ600 to get myself fully back on the road.

Just bought myself a Crud Catcher tonight for the downtube. With the weather getting rubbish found I'm getting wet grit flinging all up my chest and face!!!! lol.

TLW....nice bike. Makes mine look like a kiddies first bike. lol

By the way that isn't muddy though. Could do much better.

Ha, give me a chance, it's not been wet for a while here... Plus it's going to take a lot of mud to hide that lairy purple paint job...

Funnily enough, this cost me roughly the same as I paid for my old Amasa Comp about 5yrs ago, I reckon I'll be building my own from now on, looking over the spec of the old 2008 Four Supreme it's comparable but roughly 1/3-1/4 the cost...

If you're not mud plugging you could give the Schwalbes a try - the Racing Ralph absolutely FLIES!! - it's a bit lightweight treadwise for the front so paired with a Nobby Nic I reckon they're fantastic...

Depending on the dog owners around your area, wet grit might be the least of your concerns! Been there, done that... twice. NOT fun.

Been doing that for 12 years now... always found the cost of building a bike to your spec lower than buying from the big manufacturers. That said, Cannondales and Treks still tickle my fancy... a lot! (I know, talk about overpriced stuff...)

That was one of my main worries.
