I'd agree with that. When I bought my SV it still had half of the 3-year warranty remaining but I did all servicing myself as I wasn't going to pay rob-dog dealer prices for oil changes. I simply assumed nothing would go wrong (and nothing did).

£290 seems a lot. My VW extended warranty for the ID.4 cost me £260 for al parts and 15k miles. There's a lot more to go wrong in an EV than on a modern motorbike.

Yes it does seem expensive by comparison. I paid for a service plan when I bought the bike. It includes 3 services of which the last is next month. I've never had a main agent service my bikes but I assumed I'd need to pay them to keep the warranty. That too in hindsight was expensive for what is basically an air change and a general check over.
