I started to have the paint peel off mine from the nose cone, a little like concorde
The bike stretched due to the extreme temperatures and all the oil fell out too. By the time my tyres melted I reckon I must have hit warp 7. |

Re: Fastest you've had the SV recently? (sorry if this has been done already!)
Had indicated 145 down hill with knee's in shaulders in tucked well in. At about 10K rpm meaning (through gear calculations) a real 135MPH. But it had no more to give that was flat as a pancake out.
Stuck my head up, instantly knocked 10MPH off. :S Private roads. If anyone cares, had 145 out of the aprilia up hill in 4th :O. Again private road. Last edited by ThEGr33k; 22-03-08 at 09:14 PM. |

just kidding... I had 140 on the clock on my GSX-R in France last year, top of 3rd gear that was. It got there so easily, I was so looking forward to beating the 140 I had the SV, and then I never got the chance! |

Just been doing some gear ratio calculations... Here are the speeds of each gear for these bikes at red line. 1. SV650S 2. SV1000S (Note; limiter at 10K RPM!) 3. GSXR 600 k5-6 4. Aprilia Falco (had to didnt I ) gear.1....2....3....4 1....046,064.069.063 2....067,088,098,090 3....086,113,119,114 4....105,139,135,143 5....123,157,148,163 6....139,170,169,180 Sorry if it is hard to read Last edited by ThEGr33k; 23-03-08 at 01:19 AM. |

Re: Fastest you've had the SV recently? (sorry if this has been done already!)
It's readable it's not right for the GSX-R though (assuming you meant K6 - K5 could be different? I had a K7). Where'd you get the figures to work that one out?
I was able to get around 84mph from the GSX-R in 1st, and I think it was 109? maybe a little more in 2nd. 140mph was right at the top of the 3rd gear (so 16,000 rpm!). I think the next 3 gears might be a bit closer together than those, so maybe 4th = 155, 5th = 165, 6th = 175, something like that? These are all speedo figures too btw, not measured. Tbh I'm not sure about those last 3 gears just theorising, I only got to see the first 3 to the redline, but they can't be as far spread out else it'd rev out at a theoretical max of ~215mph (if it was 25mph between gears!). |

According to Suzuki its 160 at the most, but in the real world probably less. The fastest i've had out of my R6 was 159 indicated, so probably somewhere around 145-150. There was probably a little more but i'm not sitting there at silly speeds as the the speedo creeps up. |

Re: Fastest you've had the SV recently? (sorry if this has been done already!)
Jap speedo's have a reputation of being pretty inacurate tbh. That 140 you saw in 3rd could easily have been 120MPH (I used the red line of 15500, so add another 5 mph to limiter) ish in real world. Same for 80ish in first being 70ish. Id imagine there wouldnt be a massive difference betweeen k5-6 and 7 models. Cant seem to find the K7 ratios though on the net.
Either way all these bikes can easily break the law. |
