Re: Fixer-Peg, comments please
Thanks everyone
That's made some great reading and lots of good points to consider. Firstly price. I'll have to investigate cheaper suppilers, different manufacturing processes and invest more money in larger quantities to reduce costs. Secondly availability. The whole reason for this exercise is to see if it is commercially viable to take on a distributor for your local accessory shops. Thirdly advertising. I've already looked in to cost for this, but have to try and ensure a return on my costs. Most of the comments up to now have been from users of the Fixer-Peg. If any one has never heard of a Fixer-Peg up untill now, would you like to leave your thoughts about the product? or if anyone has known about the Fixer-Peg for a while but have decided not to invest (in the leading mobile lever repair product ) would you please leave your comments about your decision. Thanks again everyone, keep it up. |

Re: Fixer-Peg, comments please
I've known about it for a while, but only via the Org. I haven't bought one, not even as a stand by, but I don't have any real reason why not.
Perhaps its only because I haven't broken a gear lever yet! I guess when I do & I'll be stuck miles from anywhere in the pouring rain, wishing I had a Fixer Peg! I do think its a great product, so I'll probably buy one now. Having watched enough episodes of Dragons Den then I few things come to mind. 1. Think about a patent, I know it'll be easy to come with something similar, but a patent would protect your design 2. Get someone to make it under licence? Could reduce your costs, to reduce the item cost and sell more and increase your profits. 3. Maybe get some of the pages translated into other languages? 4. Send some freebies to magazines (incl foriegn mags) for their new product pages? Risky if you don't have a patent. But reaches a wider audience, without paying for an add, although I bet the mags charge to have products featured. 5. Have a stand at a show, with some stock to sell & leaflets to advertise your product. 6. I'd have a PAYPAL logo at the top of the Home page, so peeps know that there's an easy payment method Its the kind thing, that if I saw it in a bike shop, I'd probably buy one, but maybe if it was a few quid cheaper

Re: Fixer-Peg, comments please
Davie , to keep costs down have you considered making it in 2 pieces , the bracket part machined from Square Billet and the round bit from Bar and then Screw them together with a dab of Loctite , that way you would be losing less Aluminium in the machining process .

Bullseye! Exactly the reason I paid full retail - not even reduced Org price - for my Fixer-Peg. Fear. |

Re: Fixer-Peg, comments please
Bike - Hard to say. Some sort of Suzuki GSVXR650. R. RR.
Do you have a Fixer-Peg? - Yes Why? - I've broken levers in the past and riding from England to Scotland in 3rd was annoying. Have you used a Fixer-Peg? - No- I could have done but actually forgot I had it! If so, why, and were you able to continue? - If you didn't have one, what would have happend? - What price do you think you should pay for a Fixer-Peg? - £15-20-ish Would you prefer to buy one from; A, manufactures web site, B, resllers web site, C, local accessory outlet, Answer - Any of above Would you recomend one to your friends? - Yes What do you think of the quality of the Fixer-Peg? - Better than it has to be Other comments - To me it's a temporary product, the very high quality of finish and machining could be overkill.

Re: Fixer-Peg, comments please
The peg is made in just two operations as it is.
Most other designs would require more work. |

Re: Fixer-Peg, comments please
Brilliant idea, but tbh when i broke mine i managed by using the side of my boot to hook the lever, done 70 miles this way and got quite good at it after a while so imo you wouldnt be at a complete loss without one.
That said, i will probably buy one to leave on my bike somewhere just in case as it would have made it easier with one and for so little money why not? Hope it works out for you mate. Phil |
