getting them 'done' is far from a miracle cure, in most cases it doesnt affect them (as others on here have said). 2 yrs is still a very playful time for a dog, its like late teens, look at how many teenagers fight!

OK guys Sam is going to have them off this morning. I have had advice from the Springer experts and although it may or may not calm him down it will reduce the risk of postate cancer later in life.

His nuts are there and not being used and I don't intend now to breed from him, he will be a bit or discomfort for a day or two but he will get spoilt rotten and he can only benefit from this op, and if he doesnt benefit we've lost nothing.

He just been for his last walk with his 2 veg and I have told him to lick them while he can LOL.

I will let ya know how he is later xx

OK Samson update !

Please don't say i told you so as I feel awful for my baby and very very guilty, and actually a little upset, so no micky taking on this one.

Samson had his 5 day check up. His scrotum is twice the size it was before he had the procedure, it is hard and red vets says this isn't that good but due to Sam being a bouncy lively dog it will take longer to heal. I have to try my best to keep him from climbing the walls.

5 days without walkies, can you imagine what a Springer would be like. He is managing to lick them even with his big collar on. So now, vets suggestion, he is weraing shorts LOL to hinder him licking.

All give Sam healing vibes as he is not a happy puppy. Anti biotics are now his best friend

I wish I had never done this to my baby.

Aww bless - I know what it's like when you feel you are doing the best thing for your dog and circumstances conspire against you to cause more grief...

... I had a rescue GSD and being a 'responsible owner' I had him down the vets for his innoculations...

... only it turns out he had kidneys 1/3 the size of normal and he couldn't process the drugs through his system. Three days later ans we had to put him down.

I hope everything will be fine for you both - just try not to snigger too much at him in his nappy - just take many photos so you can embarass him when he's better/older/wiser.

LOL @ cuffy ... not quiet like that but trust you !! ha ha. This is what they look like !

I hope I dont get visitors, Samson is wearing his collar but he is still managing to lick his wounds so the vet said to make him wear some shorts or something to stop it being so easy ..... people will think I have gone mad.

Just to prove he was happy once lol, this is my baby normally

Awww, bless him. That does look swollen - the shorts are a good idea. Just keep an eye on it, if it becomes worse despite the antibiotics, he may be having a reaction to the stitches.

He's just gorgeous.
