Well, I was planning on actually coming this week but the weather looks crap, I'm nackered (not sleeping well), my wrists are bloody killing me and I have just found out that the charming young person that knocked me off my bike and nearly killed me got just a £200 fine, 6 points on his licence & £35 court costs.
I'm going into town to get blind drunk with a mate who's just got back from Oz. See you next time maybe. |

Tim... just bare in mind that the 6 points will sit next to a CD endorsement code...
... and that'll cost him a lot more than £200 over the next 4 or 5 years! AND will make it extremely difficult to find insurance in the next year or two! He's convicted now Tim... just focus on taking his insurance company to the cleaners!

I was only wondering because the points and convictions info will be held by DVLA and the courts...
Everytime I go for a hire car and Ive forgotten the bit of paper, DVLA have to have a call from me confirming my details and that they can disclose the fact I have no points on my licence to the company. All because of the DP Act... so wondering how the insurance companies get such information if normal disclosure requires your authority. Which is interesting because convictions are done in public courts. I know the insurance companies talk to each other and hold info on accident claims so the driver will be on there for damage to his car and linked to Tims but how do they update to take into account convictions as in this case? just wondering thats all... |

Well, some, not all insurance comapnies ask for a copy of your licence. If the points are on there, they will see. However, if you are clever, then you will have copies of your licenece when it was clean, or a slightly doctored version. Which of course i have never had, even when i had 11 points!
Sometimes, the insurance co's ask for a copy of your licence if you have an accident, which mine did. |
