Re: My first off/accident!! - Miss my bike already!
He might not want his parents to know!
My wifes parents still don't know that she's crashed two bikes, one of them twice, all they know about is the last one and she only told them about that because she was limping and couldn't hide it! Druid

Re: My first off/accident!! - Miss my bike already!
Much sympathy.
Surely there must be someone you can ask... most bikers would want to help. Isn't there anyone else at university (I'm guessing here) who rides a bike and who could help?? And as for parents - well they'll find out some time,so why not tell them now. They'll just have to live with it. Can always say that someone else was riding |

Re: My first off/accident!! - Miss my bike already!
Of course, this ones a bit narrower and shorter now..... On a serious note Thulfi you do need to make a decision pronto re this otherwise the storage fees will kill you. Have you got any mates with a lock up or even a back garden where you can stash it until you make a decision to either sell the salvage or try and put it back together. Please don't wait around for the insurance company to make a decision, you've already been fleeced once with that recovery fee. If they do decide to accept liability and pay you out being realistic they're going to write it off, not fix it, so there is no point in keeping it at a repair yard.

Re: My first off/accident!! - Miss my bike already!
UPDATE*
So I went to the repair centre today. Got the list of things that need sorting to make it roadsafe (the frames ok), and the extras; ROADSAFE RH Fork Leg, LH Fork Leg (2 X £414) Lower Yoke and Spindle (£204) Head stock bearing set (£30) Front Wheel (£317) Front Wheel Bearings (£26) Head Lamp (£160) Top Cowl Stay (£123) LH Mirror (£52) Header Pipes (£140) Header Pipes Gasket (£11) LHF Foot Rest (£16) LHF Bank Sensor (£5) LHF Foot Rest Hanger (£42) Gear Change Pedal (£45) Prices quoted are first hand parts. So what do you think guys. Worth the effort of finding parts and getting it roadsafe, or is this just too long a list. The guy was like you can't really get 2nd hand decent forks for under £300 anyway. I'm not sure wether they were trying to do me cos they realised I was a newb. I asked 'em how much they would buy it for, and they said £200. £200!!!...I have a brand new rear battleaxe tyre and micron exhaust - could sell 'em myself and not be too shy of that!.. Gonna get the bike delivered to my flat on Friday...so gonna have lotsa time to think about what to do!... Any ideas would be much appreciated.. (pics to follow shortly.....)
