It was in ride, I think - down to differences in the testing. Apparantly the royal enfield 500, tested on the car plan, hit something like 95mpg; the CBR6 they used for the loud can test was about 6mpg better than on the standard equipment.

The only embarrasing thing for me about being a biker (and I hang around with the sort of people Lozzo refers to) is the time spent changing into riding gear. Usually destroys all the time saving made on the commute to work, which is annoying as well as embarrasing.

I am so well versed, it only takes me, what 1-2 min to change?? I must save 20-30 times that (yes, as much as an hour saved) on my commute ... how long does it take you??

Im not embarased. There are some people do/say silly things which doesnt help biker PR which can be a little embarasing. I guess all groups have that though. I think people are secretly jealous of what we do so the bad stuff tends to surface as people try to find more reasons why they arnt on a bike (appart from being wimps).

Probably about 15 minutes each end, mostly spent trying to untangle my legs from my trousers. My whole commute is only an hour though, so I'm not making huge savings like you.

Do you ever feel embarrassed you are a biker??? Have you ever 'neglected to tell' someone you are?!?!? ... especially if they are having a rant?!?
Most people who write in to newspapers about most of this stuff have more than likely got more time on their hands than is entirely healthy.

There's eejits about in any walk of life.

If somebodys having a rant I go out of my way to find out what they're whinging about and dispute things properly, which since it's somebody ranting, usually ends in 1-0 to me or "yes the guy you're whinging about was a tit, but don't tar all with the same brush"

#shrug# The word biker conjures up images of power rangers in suits louder than my bike as often as the stud and tassel clad muppet on the cruiser.

To me motorcyclist says "method of transport", biker says lifestyle.
