Default Re: insurance!! how you with?

26 years old, riding since July 07, 3 points, 2 claims on my car in 5 years (neither my fault), I ride an 03 SV650S valued at about £2500 (when I got the insurance last year). Kept in a locked garage in KY11 postcode (Dalgety Bay in Fife, Scotland).

£450 p.a. through Bennetts (I think the insurer is AXA)

I'm sure I could do cheaper but I'm lazy

Nobody else was involved. No property was damaged. I'm already getting hammered for my insurance, I have 0ncb.. if I claimed, I'd have to pay the first 650quid anyway, and more than likely my bike would have been a write off. My premium would go up next year, and I'd still have 0 ncb. I can see perfectly why people go TPFT, especially if they're a year or two into having passed their test. As it happened, repair costs and excess were about the same anyway.

Yes in that case i would do the same if it was alow dammage crash, to preserve my NCB. BUT if it was an at fault crash and your bike was written off( no one else involved or others involved) for the sake of fully comp you get some money back compared to none.

Hense my statement of false ecconomy. As if i was stupid enough to be TPFT and wrote my bike off chances are that would be me out of biking for a while as i would not have the money to replace it wit hanything like a decent bike. As it is i am fully comp with Gap insurance and owe nothing on the bike . So in 3 yraes i might just throw it down the road on purpose and get all the money back i paid ror it LOL .

So IMO TPFT on a decent bike is false ecconomy. The same reason i will never do a track day on my ZX6R , if i bin it i am not insured and cant afford to replace it.

I was TPF&T with my last CBR600......... i wrote it off and nobody else except a large pheasant was involved thus I was about ?3,500 out of pocket

I remember coming round, lying there and thinking "never mind, i`m still alive and the insurance will pay for the bike" then it hit me that no it wouldn`t cos I was only TPF&T

Would only ever go fully comp now despite what it costs
