Although it make me think, the first time, i should get a car. But i was reminded that cars are a silly idea in london, because I was filtering whilst i was thinking about getting a car. Matt |

Jet Ski's are awesome, although it killed my arms for a week after 15mins riding
I think its unfair to ask you to stop. Have you explained to her what measures you take to be safe? This could be important - she might see those shiny leathers as just a gimmick, not see them for what they really are. What if you did a BikeSafe course; would that help to ease her mind? And damn on being the taxi. My girlfreind has a car, she can take herself places. Mind you, she likes coming on the back of the old SV, and enjoys the benefits of commuting through london on the back of my bike Matt |

I used to get earache everytime I left the house on the bike (and baring in mind I commute on the bike, that was just a fair bit). She'd stress about it constantly, and it got to the point that I had to call home about once every hour, otherwise she started to call hospitals etc....

![]() She liked bikes, but didn't have a clue about them, so the firs thing I did was "Tell you what, I'll teach you to ride the damn thing!" Turned out that she only got to 8mph (just let the clutch out in first gear) in a straight line. Then she cra*pped herself. ![]() Next step was, "OK, you've seen what it's like to ride the thing yourself, I'll take you on the back." I rode a little more sensibly than I usually do so I didn't scare her etc. When we pulled over, the response I got was "You know you can overtake whilst I'm on the back, right?" ![]() If I were ever put in your position, I wouldn't even pause for breath. Bike. And she knows it too. Nowadays I just say, "I'm going out on the bike, don't expect me back any time soon." ![]() |

that sounds like me before Chris took me on the back, flippin' loved it, was quite disappointed when we got back to his and I had to get off
![]() People are so different! You never know, she may (eventually) come round to the idea and then all will be well. If she's not even willing to see things from your point of view then so be it, you've tried. Just out of interest, how long have you been together? |

ehhh? so she has "put up" with the bike for all that time? Why is she giving you an ultimatum now?
![]() And 3 years on the road is surely enough experience for her to realize that you know what you're doing....odd situation all in all me thinks. But then I don't know the ins and outs of it all so one shouldn't judge ![]() |

I've had bikes all my riding life. Together with wives and g'f's who have enjoyed them. In fact my Bonnie was the lure that attracted my first wife. She even rode pillion up to 8 months preggers. On an MZ125 not the vibrating Trumpet. 2nd wife taught me to drive and I showed her how to ride. She owned such bikes as FZ750 and FJ1100 and 1200. Third wife loved my Harley then got her own ER5 to ride. My daughter passed her test and, before getting pregnant, had a Bros, SV, and aZX9
Met Lissa for the first time on a blind date weekend. Going to Anglesey for the Bike show on my Daytona 1200. And we haven't looked back. Because we both share the joy of biking we can spend most weekends out riding or fettling. Find yourself a girl who at least understands what riding a bike means spiritually and mentally and preferably one who wants to be out on it as much as you. Life is too short not to. |
