After October (or whenever it is) the closest test centres will be Newbury and Burgess Hill I think. The one in Farnborough(?) isn't opening until later (next year I think).

I spent the best part of £1k getting leathers, lid etc so I could ride safely with him (he wouldn't let me on the back until I was well protected!) so now I feel i'm ready to bite the bullet and take the test myself.

I've always been interested in bikes and now I have protective gear and enjoy the thrill of riding as pillion, I really want to ride myself.

Any advice / tips to get me started would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Truth be said your height won't limit things too much, there are plenty of ways getting around it. Samnooshka here on the forum is about that height and she managed to do it by modifying her SV somewhat. This being SV forum of course I'd recommend a SV650, probably a naked model as it changes your riding position and makes it easier to put your leg down. There other options like the ducati monster & an old 400. Both of those you need to buy very very carefully. I am sure Mr. WubberDuckieOfDeath would help.

Matt, There is a place in west byfleet that let's you do something called an induction course for £40. It's basically 2hr on a 125 around a car park, doing some exercises that are actually done in a CBT. PM if you want the details.

Lowered SV's are very good and look 'right' as well. BUT you really want one of these

Helooo and welcome! Good to see you on here!

i am too a pillion at the mo but looking to take my test soon. Prob April/May! Phil bought me a bike for xmas, a 125. Some Japanese version of a Honday CG a Quingi or something!!! Managed to ride it a little yesterday - a bit wobbly but never the less, both feet off the ground and moving forward!!!
We also have a SV650 - that will be mine when I pass and have some confidence to ride. yep 3 bikes, two cars and no garage!!!

So will we be seeing you at AR08? - I am going as a pillion, but I reckon Phil may kick me off at some point so he can go faster without being deafend!

I may need a lift if anyone fancies having a pillion!??

Anyway - Hope you are ok and welcome to the crazy org!

Hey there Mrs24_7!! Thanks for the welcome.

Nice to see a fellow pillion on here! Good luck with your test. Least you're making progress! I've not even sat on a bike except when i've been a pillion.

Sorry, i'm brand new on here today, but what's AR08?
