Well this was the thing I did actually want to buy her a Rose and she knew I was going to but choose to ignore me pleading with her to not take the flower

to be honest i'd give the eiffel tower a miss. you get just a good a view - albeit not panoramic - from the Sacre Couer. Go to it and take piccies but wouldnt bother going up it. there's so many other things to do and see far far better as you're only there for a 1 night stay.

Totally agree with you but its just something you have to do once in your life ain't it?

I used to stay at the Floride Etoile in rue Saint Didier. (off Av Kleber) which is half way between the Arc de Triomphe and Trocedero (for Eiffel Tower/ Seine boat rides etc). and also the Victor Hugo a couple of hundred yards from the arc de Triumphe.

The Montmartre/Pigalle hotels will be cheaper and have interesting locals. But you will need to travel a bit for may of the sights

Tip if you end up flying, get the Air France coach from Roissy to Etoile. Far cheaper than a taxi etc into the city. Buy a carnet of metro tickets (10 at a time) far cheaper.

Places to go, usual tourist bit, boat ride is nice in the sun. Eiffel Tower, Arc De Trimphe. Avoid Champs Elleyse as too expensive. I like Les Invalides, simple stroll by the river hand in hand, costs nothing but gives memories etc.

yeah but muchlike going up the tower you gotta take the good lady to the Champs Elleyse...! its tres expensive, but i,m sure a visit to the Louis Viton store to see how the elite do it would be an eye opener....£10,000 for a handbag, sir? ok i'll take 2...

plus its got L'arc de triumphe at the top of the road too....

yes, but from Arc De Trimphe. Walk down Kleber to Trocedero, grab a coffee. Nice views from there to the Eiffel Tower, then walk down towards the tower, turn round and look back at where you came from. Avoids the silly expenses. (trust me, having worked on Kleber for 15 years, there is no way I take my missus anywhere near the silly stuff with any plastic.)

Then up the seine, Louvre, Notre damm. got to see sacre coure by evening so that is then Montmatre & Pigalle for evening entertainment

We got out the underground station near that place that i still dont know with the gold roof on top at 9 and we were out and about all day, till 6 went back, had a kip for an hour then back out for a meal before it got too late. We got a lot done, depends how long you wanna spend at places though.
