If you do a lot of mileage a Scotoiler is an absolute must.Prevents all this hassle about changing chains and costs about the same as buying a good chain riviter and splitter.

Do other bikes seize their bits anywhere nearl as badly as an SV?

At least he told you not like the dealer who fitted my previous "set" who obviously could not be arsed getting the front off.

Needed a ton of heat and a HUGE breaker bar when a new set was required and fitted by an independant.

I will always be marking my front/ leaving the cover off in future on my bikes.

I'm doing about 8-10K miles a year- so a chain and sprocket should last me about 15-16 months ideally.

Now I've ditched Wurth lube and will be using Silkolene, I'll be interested to see the difference (if I've still got the bike by then).

See the review of chain lubes in this months ride to give you an idea of what's good and what's not

I'm using Castrol wax at the mo, which got a good review

My bike done 20K miles on original chain and sprockets, not even needed to adjust it yet. It has a scottoiler. Just a thought
