Years ago, I was stopped for slaloming the white line, they decided that my bike also had a defective brake (bollox, nothing wrong with it).

I was cautioned at the side of the road and they asked if it was my bike. No my brothers. Well they arrived next day as we were having dinner and arrested my bro for aiding and abetting my offence of riding with defective brakes.

£10 for me and £5 for him. Magistrate believed every lie the copper told.

Christ Tim, that must have hurt, back in the pounds, shilling and pence days!

What was that good for back then? Half a house, a model T Ford?

Look, I am the younger side of 50 for 14 months yet.

I do remember librae, solidi and denarii and as a result learned my tables upto 12. however, this one blot on my record was about 1978 well into decimalisation when I was 18 and using a pushbike as I did not want to risk my license.

Cops were right *******s back then. Batter you and then charge you as well. Nick your ill gotten gains etc.

Now coppers don't like getting out their cars unless it is for doughnuts

Found this http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAn...code/DG_069870
while looking for something else, it seems that you won't get points for cycling offences, but you could get fined up to £2.5k

If you have a licence you can get done as you are supposed to have an understanding of the whole highway code not just the bits that apply to the mode of transport you are on

if you don't have a licence thats when the rest comes into play
