I was in Chiang Mai with a girlfriend. We and zero experience and even less skill, but we still hired a honda moped for a couple of days. We got the full 2 minutes tuition, then we were off into the traffic. After a couple of minutes we spotted a great looking temple so we stopped to take some pictures. Then pulled a wheelie coming out into the rush hour traffic, which scared us both sh**less.

Took it a bit easier after that and we had a great day cruising up to the snake show, an orchid farm and waterfalls north of the city.

The following morning, another wheelie coming out onto the road but this time I didn't keep it upright. So we both ended up on the floor and I had to fork out a whole £20 for a new brake lever.

A complete contrast to my first UK ride which was wet. Bicester to Ruislip on a 125 in the pouring rain. Yuk!

I had a memorable first long ride on my 125, I'm embarrassed I had forgotten about it.
It was my best mates surprise 40th, when she still lived over here. Her husband had hired a pub on a bridge in the Goole area with camping for us bikers. She didn't know we were coming, she didn't know it would take an age to go the back ways on my little Rebel either. Matt still had Suzy then and the ride was so slow her fan kept coming on.
Jet heard her coming over the bridge and she was jumping for joy when she saw my little blue bike pootling over the bridge, she just thought I'd naturally sit on the back of Matt being a long way on a 125

Ride back wasn't so good, no sleep, long ride, big hangover, good job our friend Alex was coming back with us in the car.....target fixation had its uses, the reg plate got stared at all the way home!

basically had an unmarked copper behind us for about 5 miles clocking up the offences. then he put his lights on and i got caught, my mate got away. got off with a bollocking, apparently i only got away with it cos he didnt catch my mate as well, or probably because he could see i was sh*tting myself.

got my own back on my mate much later through a speed camera, it missed me in front and gifted him 3 points and a £60 fine

Hmm my first ride on a proper bike was a couple of trips up and down the road on my brothers RD125 back in 1990 ish whe I was just 11/12 ish

Got my Honda MBX125 in march 1996 and promptly crashed it within a few miles . Pretty much learnt to ride on that baike over the next couple of years. Then I bought a CB-1 400 omg I was scared stupid riding that home from the dealers so much power compared to the 125
