Not tried one of these dang fangled pointy frames out, but 50mph straight into a couple of tons of germany's best and my frame was spot on (very thoroughly checked by myself and a mechanic). However after me clearing the car and the bike (and his bonnet) not being so lucky and then flipping a few times pretty much everything else was ****ed. Like I said in the other thread if you can be 'bothered' to do what I did, i.e shopping round very hard and doing all the work myself (meh, the credit's mine - yorkie's abroad he can't read this) it came to a bit over a few hundred quid, then another £100 on advanced training.

Your options are either scrap it, (you already said you won't break it?),sell it for £500 ish and put that towards another bike (bout a grand's loss on this one?), or spend £5-600 getting it fixed? (£700 odd if you're impatient)

I know it sounds like you have made your mind up and want a new bike because of your bad experience but I think you will get more pleasure in getting the bike sorted and right to ride again. You will certainly get more pleasure than selling it for £500 as it sounds like this is not the answer you wanted to hear although pretty unanimous by most on the org.

just to clear things up, im in a sh*tty mood about the bike as it was basicly finished, i have already spent £900 on top of the £1600 the bike was braught for. yes i agree im spoiled (sertainly not a brat) but i dont get somthing for nothing.

the bike was my 18th bday present (8 months early) i crashed it once last year costing £200 (5mph drop) spent £700 on upgrades and maintinace scashed it (as you know) last saterday 3 days after my 18th bday hence why im pi**d and dont want much to do with it atm

and now i have to speend £400+ on getting it running again so at the end if i repare it it will have cost me nearly £3000..... so yes i am throwing things out of my pram, i dont like putting time and effort in to things that just get trashed so thats why i want rid and just get a boaring bike that i can throw down the road and feel next to no emotions about what i have done

sory for the rant, and if its worth £500 then so be it

(ps got rid of last bike because i couldent bare droping £3,000 worth of bike again and the fact it was actuly my mums)

I know your ****ed off so just let it cool off for abit and dont think about new bikes or chopping this one just yet.
Soon you'll get the itch back and spend every waking second looking or parts and seeing what you can sort it out there and then.
Happened to me and most people on here so i have an idea of what your going through.

So best bet for now is just get on with life and get injures and bruises heal up before you go mad thinking about what to do next.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet, you know the sv is worth it in the end.

hear hear.

Barwel, tis the usual cack that happens fella, wouldn't matter if it was this bike, the next bike or the next bike after that, theres always a time when you'll get peed off as you've spent a fortune doing something up, only to get it squashed. Kinda squashes your pride too hun.

You are a young lad, only been riding for a very short time, take a deep breath, stand back and evaluate properly what you are going to do, its frustrating looking at something you now can't ride I know, but when you've allowed yourself a little time, rather than jumping in both feet, things will become clearer for you.

Slow down a little, if it be yourself or bike riding. Give yourself time and chance to get your head together.

You know I've just bought a Raptor...if I drop it off that stupid side stand in a silly manner not long after buying it, it'll cost a lot more in time sourcing parts, and money than what it'll cost you to fix your SV(just a pair of horns for it cost £400 new if you can get them, as for indicators, yer avvin a larf!), seriously...sure I'll be hacked off to say the least, fuming in fact, everything is rare as donkey rocking poo for it, but give me a week of shouting, bawling and stamping my feet, and things will be on the road to recovery...and a hole in my pocket too Such is life I'm afraid.

Man that was unpleasant.
I was on crutches for ****ing ages too, I was too tight to accept sick pay too so dragged my sorry ass up two flights of stairs a few times a day on crutches while everyone caught up behind me did a mr bean desperately trying to get past.

You've got to look on the positive side though, alive and a mendable bike. The police told me my bike looked okayish so I spent my days laid up in hospital trying to think of clever ways of changing gear without using my legs.

I wouldn't get put off so easy barwell dude...or you'll live a **** life!

Barwel, it's only the front end of the bike kiddo!

You said the rest of the bike was untouched? And you'd already streetfightered it so you don't have nose cone, front subframe, etc to buy. List out what parts you need, do some reasearch on ebay, and it won't look so bad. Once you have all the parts it's a one day job to put it back together and I'll help you with it. You can probably do it for 500 quid with the help of fleabay.

You won't have spent 3 grand on the bike, you'll have spend 1600, plus 700 on upgrades. Upgrades are money which you wanted and were happy to spend, and most of which you either still have untouched on the bike, or you can buy the same bits again as part of your repair budget, aftermarket bits are usually cheaper than OEM.

The 200 you spent repairing it last time and the 500 odd you'll spend this time were not spent on the bike, they were spent on you! It wasn't maintenance cost, it wasn't 'cos the engine went bang, it was because YOU crashed it. So don't blame the bike and get ****ed off with the bike because you are out of pocket. Crashes are expensive and incurring that expense is often what teaches you not to do it again! Fix it up, get back on the horse, and you'll be a lot more careful with your stopping distances in future.

If you want to blame somebody or something for the predicament you are in, you know who to blame. Don't sell the bike because you hold bad feeling towards the bike.
