I hate the word dealer at the moment.
My lovely VRap is sat in one right now, and I hope that they go against horror stories and fix her up fine.
I sent her back after two days as I found a radiator leak. As it seems I know rather a lot about certain inherent problems on the VRaptor I was kinda hoping I'd get away with never having the ghastly seive effect on the rad. I know categorically from previous experience what goes wrong, where it happens, what three issues can contribute etc etc.
Its under warranty so they had to take it. I've left it with them for a few days to give them chance to get round to doing something, rang them yesterday to find out what had happened.
Bloke on phone was pleasant enough, until he swore blind and I quote
'' it seems its a stone chip that caused it, its so tiny you need a magnifying glass ''
Its perfectly plausible, but the tone of his voice prompted me to think he was actually blaming the problem at my door, neither did he want to know that it probably wasn't. Never had a rad go with a microscopic stone chip yet, and I've had over 8 or more bikes at my disposal.
''it was all ok when we took it on a test drive''(3.4 miles to the MOT centre), I know as I asked them to check the speedo had got the convertor working. HHHmmmm just like everything was checked over, you may have put a new back brake disc on, but you never checked the front, as I know they've never been looked at judging by the performance which equals to it being parked up for about six months, squueeling and grabby.

''we''ll fix it under a good will gesture'' oh well thats bleddy nice, you seriously don't think I was going to pay for it, its under feckin warranty, not that I said that, but I bloody hate dealers trying to wriggle out of a problem. I just hope they fix it properly, and I don't find its done it again in the 88 miles home, so I have to shove 125 mls of radweld in it myself to cure it. keep your fingers crossed I never have to take it back, as its an expensive round trip when you only expect to do it once.
I usually steer clear of dealers. I use people I know I can trust, won't try bending the truth, and can do a job properly and I'm not left worrying if a wheel is going to drop off etc.

No.
Thing is, I may feel slightly annoyed at present, but they may just turn up trumps.
Me and Peg had a conversation after the phone call yesterday, and he said they fella wasn't likely to be overly happy with spending money. He'd already dropped 10 percent off the asking price, put on a new rear disc, now having to sort out a costly radiator issue, hes not likely to be rubbing his hands together from a good sale! I can see his point TBH, but that isn't my concern, my new bike I haven't ridden more than twice round the block is what I'm concerned with.

With amount you'd have saved buying private you could have had custom rad made

Not really, coolant is pretty safe for that. Meant to last 5 years.

Cagiva f'ed up somewhere making those radiators, thus they all seem to leak. Common issue.

well no, as knowing my luck, it have happened on a private sold one too which after paying the cost of a custom made one..usually around the four hundred mark, I wouldn't have saved anything, plus so far this won't cost me nowt. Its also already halfway there with the stuff I want on one too, so no extra cost for those. I wanted an unmolested one for a reason, I don't want someone elses shoddy mods....not that what I've got so far has made any difference!

Indeeedy, and looking from the expansion thingy,I noted it was slightly low(for my liking) when we first looked at the bike, when it was home it was a) very blue and b) very very full. So I know that was looked at. Cheeky buggers could have left me my tax disc holder on though, they took it off, but then I would never have noticed the leak if I hadn't been scratching my head where that had gone!

I thought that it was weak mix of coolant, which reminds me I need to check mine tomorrow.

Well even I know its should be a mix, but trust me, I had very blue hands from my radiator!
I first noticed it on the brake line splitter, thought it was odd there was condesation there, as the weather had been dry, touched brake line, sniffed it, licked finger as I reckoned it was coolant( nice and sweet like coolant is) then I spotted the very blue drops of coolant on the opposite fork leg, and then to my disappointment a very wet patch in the top nearside corner of a pristine radiator.
