Yes, so true didn't mean to trivialise the subject of the thread.

Re: Japan hit by 8.9 earthquake
Friend's daughter was on a cruise ship missing off the NE coast of Japan. Just back from visiting and have seen at first hand the grief and shock.
Japan suffered an 8.3 shock a number of years back, and the death toll was 143,000. The one on Friday was 8.9, and had the Tsunami too. I dread to think what the final toll for this one will be.

Still, they learned a lot from Kobe and that's made a difference.

Re: Japan hit by 8.9 earthquake
Very true, the actual casualties from the earthquake this time around were very low compared to before, a testament to the building regs and lessons learnt etc, that tsunami on the other hand...

Re: Japan hit by 8.9 earthquake
Am following this nuclear business with interest. It just gets worse and worse. After FIL's awful experiences at the hands of the Japanese at the end of WW2 I have tried to avoid Japanese stuff - yes I bought a SV and a Hornet - but this shows how silly all that is - they are people, cut them they bleed, just like us - and they need help.

My thoughts are with those who are suffering as a result of this disaster

Re: Japan hit by 8.9 earthquake
Oh dear....you mention about how bad some see Japan but that was over 50 years ago...our own country before that was a disgrace all over the world and I dont see how we've been dealt any reasonable karma comeback for that yet....why bring this carp up aye? There is a time and place and thread...but this aint it!
