I wonder if they'll start using the 800cc engine in the future, with say 110bhp. I would prefer that for a street triple kinda bike.

Highly unlikely as the 675 engine already fills the gap for the smaller machine-----
and it is a cracker of a bike

The 800 engine in the street triple is apparently the most requested bike at triumph. One of the engineers I was speaking to reckons that once sales die down a bit on the current sized version in a couple/few years then they'll most likely produce an 800.

Current engines
675cc=105bhp 50ft/lb @ 9200rpm
800cc= 94bhp 58ft/lb @ 7850rpm

The 800 engine is a much lower revving engine and heavier than the 675 so although the transplant is possibly they would have to do a lot of extra work to bring the weight down to the same levels for the R
I do agree it would be a nice mix with the lazier engine
