First car I drove was my mums C plate Nova. I was an extra £12 on the insurance.
Loved that car.

First car i bought - 1.2 1998 R Corsa with sunroof. Thought it was great till the EGR valve started to show intermittent fault. Grrrr

Nova still my fav - easy to work on no electrics to go wrong, could leave the keys in it and still no one would nick it (probably to do with the paintwork mind you) Not fast but it done the job for me.

In other words it looked a lot crapper than that one.

Handy having an estate car at 17 years old though, get many chicks in the back?

1994 1300cc Ford Fiesta, in 2005 when I was 17.

Cost £125 to buy and £1600 TPFT to insure.

This thread needs ages for context...

Anyway...

First car was a 1980 Austin Metro, 900cc of rip roaring four-speed fury that was orange (except for the pink bit that had been badly T-Cut). It was four years older than me...

Rock on...

That's a good point.

I passed my test and bought my 1982 Y reg mk1 fiesta in 1997 when I was 18. The car cost me less than £500 and the insurance was about £600 tpft

Passed my test in 1964 and the old Rover I mentioned was 20+ years old and cost me £6 I can still remember the reg no SV 3895 which would have been a good number for the org.

B reg Vauxhall Nova, in that lovely snot green that old Vauxhalls had back in the day. My dad had nursed this poor thing on for years rady for me (and probably my younger sister) to learn to drive in, which I did.

9 months after passing my test, I (whilst driving like a ****'ead) managed to overcook a corner on a dark country lane, skid up the embankment, hit a tree, roll it and crash through the dry stone dyke on the opposite side of the road.

Despite all that, when we dragged it back out again and despite being clearly written off - still looked very much like a Vauxhall Nova. Very, very solid little car that was.
