I found a bit of spare time today to get a little more done so I decided to make a start on the wheels.
Ordered new inner tubes a little ago as the ones fitted were probably pretty old.

Front wheel had a bit of corrosion but the rear looked like this

After half an hour it looked like this

Rubbed them down and now they're ready for a bit of primer and paint

Started with nasty gold hammerited rusty wheels

And now the rear one looks like this

Only managed to get the rear done tonight as I ran out of etch primer.

Wow!
Didn't realise the Japs would still produce genuine parts for bikes that old

Most of the parts are the same up until about 2010! Main difference between the years has been the plastics and even then the newer stuff fits the old bikes as they're the same.

I got a fiche (on CD) from ebay so I just needed to take the part numbers to the local dealers to order what I needed

All I get from her is

"is it fixed yet?"
"can I ride it now?"

And constantly changing her mind about what colour she wants it!

New set of plastics aren't cheap though plus they have to be sent from either US or Australia!

Despite being Xmas eve I still managed to sneak into the garage for a little bit and got the front wheel painted and the rear tyre and inner tube fitted

Paint job looks better in the pictures than it is but fine for the PW

Hopefully I'll be able to crack on a bit with it between Xmas and new year but also got a car door to sort out as well for the ex's son

Typically I never found time to do any thing constructive at all between Xmas and new year but I have managed to get a bit done over the past couple of days.

Got the front tyre fitted only to realise in my rush to fit it I pinched the brand new innertube with the tyre lever . So I picked up another new one from the local bike shop and took a bit more care fitting the tyre second time around.

Got the forks back on the frame with new head races fitted, then got the frame fitted back to the engine.

Not a lot to take pictures of but here's how it is at the moment ( well except its got the rear shocks fitted)
