The dullvilles are horrible gutless wallowy things.
At least a divvy 9 has a bit of poke and can be ridden easily and effortlessly at low rpm.

The h*nda is horrific to work on as well with acres of useless plastic in the way... silly undersized OEM panniers that get in the way of putting proper amounts of kit on.

And use FAR more fuel than the intense boredom would suggest. And the build quality is "meh", though they do have quite nice coated calipers.

If I was buying sensibly at the moment... FJR1300.

well i dont personally have either bikes but know those who do,and they both do a job wether its the job you want it for or not is up to the person riding them, true getting to things on the dullvil can be hard, but the newer ones have larger pannier lids so can carry a fair bit,as to performance the diversion6 is even more gutless then a bandit6 so they are both gutless as to the bigger diversion 9 with only 90hp thats only wee bit faster then a b6 and getting very logn in the tooth, with the last div9 being made in 2004,and the only thing going for it is the shaft drive

one of the guys I know has a transalp with close to 175k on it, OK the bike is a bit of a dog, but runs well, basically the same engine as the later NTV & dullvile, not my cup of tea, but the basics are solid.

Cheers Mark.

Thinking of any particular model? I seem to remember that all those I looked as were heavy.

no he said adventure bike, not look like adventure bikes, before the enforced rule change the 650/660/690 singles were king of the Dakar, anything bigger is more "looks like".

Cheers Mark.

Could you justify a little more cash and get an SMT / Adventure? Either would provide a good long term bike that does nearly everything you'll want..just not everyone's cup of tea...?

Someone mentioned the Tiger 1050 earlier. I've been riding mine on and off all day, everyday, for the past two weeks. It's an excellent ride, really comfy riding position and I get off the bike feeling totally fine at the end of the day. However it is surprisingly top heavy and quite tall, so while it handles great, at traffic jam speeds its more of a challenge than bikes like the Sprint. Overall though I'm really happy with it and a 2006-2007 one in good nick goes for just below what you have to spend.

I want to get away from the 200-210kg bikes-----down to about 170kgs
KTM seem about the lightest but finding somebody who has test bikes near me is a problem. Looking to compare the 390 and 690,390 new and 690 used would come into my price range.

I would go 690 and no smaller just because of servicing intervals...still waiting for KTM to do a proper production adventure with a 690 in it like in the past...

Do yourself a favour and get some KTM test rides in even if it's a bit of a trek, you'd be much better informed then!
