Re: New SV for 2016 announced at Milan show
Even if if it is a minimally re-styled Gladius it's kept the good bits and added a few more so it's an improvement performance wise over the previous 2 generations of SV's which were damn good bikes.
Styling was always questionable on the SV's (beauty is in the eye of the beholder) it was always that v-twin that sold the bike so look for Suzuki to sell a bunch more of them. A third generation SV and a whole new generation of riders is a good thing for motorcycling and the org.

the other day i was thinking its about time Suzuki released a new naked sv. Too many people putting the new bike down because it not what we come to love about the older bikes, but life changes and things we buy change. I think it will sell very well and theres always a demand for a sv with more upright riding postion. i bet you can get on this new one and it will ride like a naked pointy. |

Re: New SV for 2016 announced at Milan show
I'm guilty of putting the gladius down, this new bike does correct the mistakes made there though.
I guess I'm slightly possessive about the SV brand and I want it to flourish and grow. It was one of Suzuki's biggest sellers and yet they let it slip through their fingers. They admit themselves that in the last decade they've concentrated on sales of smaller bikes in the far East as that's where the money is. Still they've woken up now and we should see some new models coming through. Let's hope there's a 650s amongst them.

It is still just a tarted up Gladys.
So many missed opportunities. I wouldn't ever go back to a steel frame. I don't want a dual seat. I would want more power, better suspension, brakes etc.. With a reworked engine, they should have used the opportunity to be targeting 100BHP. OK that would mean no longer a 650, but more attractive to those who want a fun V twin that handled.

Re: New SV for 2016 announced at Milan show
Thing is,the SV is a budget bike,I paid £3999 on the road,it was pre reg in April 13 as I brought it in the June,0 miles, taxed, usual 2 year warranty, with 1 year AA breakdown cover,a L2 in White, thats great value for money.what we are all asking for is going to cost, better this, better that, add that etc( me included),so your budget bike is then in the realms of some serious competition. The SV is the nicest bike I have owned in 45+ years of biking and I've had a good selection.i think it will be the same as all the others I've had,it will come to its natural end, fade into history with a hundred or so left knocking about, and you'll be searching through the bike mags etc looking for one with that misty eyed expression thinking,I had one of them, great bike......I'm still looking for my old Honda CX 650 TURBO,1984 A312 DGU if anyone knows of it existence,I had one of them, great bike!!!

I like it, a nice can and a tail tidy would finish it off.
Would really like a pair of those wheels on my Curvy. |

The biggest question about all of this is....
Do we have a new forum banner sorted yet?.? If not why not
