Not nice Having come off myself (entirely my fault) and done serious injury I sympathise.

What are the learning points from this. Could the off have been prevented? Did you anticipate adequately? Speed OK? Before anyone says I'm having a go, I'm not. The biker always comes off worse and so in a sense it doesn't matter whose fault it is. I'm interested in how we can all learn.

I have a spare stock bar-end (new) - yours if you want it.

Which side went down?

On the Metzlers I had no confidence in wet riding. After switching to Bridgestones BT020s and practicising fishtailing over metal manholes, it's still as hairy as ever but the difference on the Bridgestones in wet riding is superb.

Hope you're not shaken up - recover soon.
Cheers for the offer, I'll let you know! It was the left side that hit the tarmac.

Tbh, I haven't had a chance to sort anything out yet, am going to wait for daylight before going over the bike and seeing what needs replacing which means I'm not going to have a chance to look at it until Saturday.

Coming into work by car added 40 minutes to my journey time And I hurt like hell today

The only thing I could learn from this is to try and and not hit the brakes so hard next time. If I had been on a dry surface I would have been fine.

My options at the time were to slam the brakes on and hope for the best or hit the car. Out of those alternatives, I think the outcome wasn't so bad.

Kate, bad news but glad youre ok. Did you contact RSS? It's worth giving them a call and seeing what they say. if you pull out onto a road and cause an oncoming car to slow down on your car/bike test you fail, so in light of that, witnesses or not, it may be worth arguing the toss. I would!!!

Sorry to hear about your off I know what they feel like and its not nice (entirely my fault though)

I'm looking at practising my brake work once my bikes back on the road, I find I didn't use them to the best of the bikes ability when I had an off. locked up both of them

Hope alls well for you though.

As you can see, not a lot of damage considering how I slid down the road! Spot the missing bits.

Unfortunately, I managed to bend the heel plate and also bent the gear linkage rod and they will take a couple of days to appear.
