Think there's nought wrong with that, a lot of couriers I know do it to stop the bikes getting scrated up by bungees etc

See, that looks ok from this distance.
But i'm even more curious as to your motives now. You aint gonna do the tank and you aint done the front fender. So how much wear and tear will the rear plastics be subjected to with your normal usage? Do you have something strapped to the back most days or something?
