With almost nil labour rates they certainly arent going to be a force to be reckoned with!. Cheap production only produces one thing..cheap bikes which dont stand the test of time.

Hyosungs dont have great build quality. They will depreciate alot more than an SV650 also. Buyer beware. You are probaly best if you budget wont stretch to new, to buy a good low mileage SV650S that will hold its money better and have parts availability and possibly some decent warranty still valid.

You know that's right and so do I,but I bet if they produced a SV clone for £2500 brand new plenty of people would buy it, and it would hit sales of Suzukis. It might be scap at three years old but lots of people don't think about that, just the headline figure or the monthly repayments. That's how they used to sell LADA cars and still do sell various Korean clones of old General Motors horrors from the eighties.

Cars are very different market wise to bikes though. Most bikers still want a bike that will last, not corrode and be written off within 3 years..how would it be seen as good value if its scrap after 3 years?. I very much doubt Suzuki would be hit by it at all TBH. If that was the case people wouldnt spend their money and buy new anymore.

Anways wasnt it about 5 years ago that the Chinese were commeth...still yet to be seen and those that do surface dont last long.

Hum, I'd say a lot of people don't expect to keep a bike for 3 years, especially "beginner" bikes. And since bike tend to do ludicrously low miles- what's the average now, 4000 miles a year I think- and often live in garages, build quality's not so important. Imagine if you bought a car with SV build quality and drove it for 50,000 miles a year.

i didn't go through any clutch cables in 18 months, but did go through a speedo drive cable, a set of brake pads, front brake caliper (it seized- there was no copper grease- maybe cutting corners in manufacture?) and it wouldn't idle at all- even after a lot of tinkering! also the heel plate snapped- somehow?! But i could do manchester to newcastle for about £6 in fuel! woo!

what do the chinese have to do with anything, Hyosung's are from Korea, infact made in the same plant that used to built SVs on contract for Suzuki

Both Korea and Hyosang have denied that... Suzuki say that they used to build some components though.
