Doing them from Biggin Hill going to phone a bit later to see if the storms have moved. Depends if the instructor wants to go up, the guy who teaches me is pretty good ex commercial instructor we went up while the other instructors thought it was too windy. Took a lot of concetration (I was knackered by the end) but think learning in tricky conditions will only make me better. Bit like riding in the wet makes (IMHO) a smoother rider so you benefit in the dry.

Fingers crossed and if everyone could lean out of their windows and blow towards Biggin Hill the clouds might b*gger off

I see we are going to have to re-incarnate the "Bring back Bocca" campaign.
I propose a shandy drinker's conspiracy whereby all us lily livered southern lightweights invade Leicester and level it.I'm sure El Boc would support that.Careful not to damage Mallory Park though.
Come on you daft old fart or we send PH round to initiate you into natureism.

In reply to the thread's title, my perspective is always going to be just a little a bit wonky - it comes being only five foot four and yet often thinking that you're five foot nine!

Yep Northy, I think things are blown out of perspective.

I never read the really techy IT threads as they are no interest to me - I think if people find the odd thread frustrating then they should police themselves and not expect admin to do it.

I think the moderators run this site well. When they banned a member recently I worried that this may set a precedent and voiced my concern (it's always easy to repeat something once its been done) - but I was impressed in they way most of the mods reacted and felt reassured this site still always a place to debate freely - albeit the good of the forum should be paramount and action may need to be taken occassionally.

Political threads get heated because people have diverse opinions and are interested in putting theirs forward. I don't think we shouldn't ban opinions even if some find the topic unsavoury. It's important that they don't turn in to slanging matched or pure vitriol and this is our responsibility to each other. We should consider out posts before goofing off - diplomacy goes a long way.

I think we need a naughty room:

Quote:
If you do something that meets with the dissaproval of the moderators of this site you will be changed from a site member to "Naughty" for a pre-determined amount of time.

If you are "Naughty" you will ONLY see the Naughty Room when you log into the site. All other site members can come or go in the naughty room as they wish (however this may change if non-naughty people post too much drivel).
Where I found this, it has been very effective in cutting the combative nonsense that goes on. You of course need a sense of humour for this, from the populace of the site as well as the mods. It was introduced on a forum that was nearly closed down due the petty infighting: the mods were getting phone calls at home about stuff FFS, and resigned en masse. Personally, I am saddened by the amount of abuse/trolling that has been going on here: although I don't post a lot, this is a great place to be a member of and have made some good friends here. At the moment am setting a precedent with my boss for the amount of work that I can do cos I am staying away Which is bad He'll be expecting me to be productive all of the time soon

Was chatting to Mr Squid about this last night... Honestly, I reckon the problem is the responses. You can call people trolls all you like, when the abuse starts flying it's never Akbar that starts it. Look at the new thread he just started. Half the forum could have posted that, it's a funny picture. It took 5 posts before someone called him a nob. I'm sure in a lot of people's eyes that's all Akbar's fault Even though it's the same people consistently breakling forum rules that are actually making it bad.
