Here you can see the hook isn't properly engaged and it will mis-fire.

You can just make out the broken spring remain (arrowed red)

Are you sure it's broken, not just displaced? The screw on the main lever has certainly seen some action, unless it was you then you're not the first person to get in here. Best option would be to replace it if it is broken, not sure where to get one though.

Definitely broken, I found the remains under the bulb lever. I don't think I'm the first in there, the speed ring retaining ring wasn't very tight. I have loads of springs to try but don't want to undo the main and loose tension.

Look at it this way, someone put it together! I doubt it's impossible. Never done it though.

LoL. I look at it that way too - and then when I totally mess things up, realise that the someone is much cleverer than me.

That moment when the xv switch spring/plate ptings off somewhere as well as the blade return spring. I had to split the shutter again to check out the spring. I've fixed the original problem and found a replacement return spring but now stuck without the xv spring...

I think I'll have to abandon this one for now. The spring I used is too strong and activates the shutter as its ****.ed.
