I decided to take the SV out anyway since it was sunny - on the way back, riding through Binbrook village I popped into a small garage which had 1 unleaded pump. "Yes, we have petrol - yes, help yourself it's self service and let me know how much you took when you come to pay".

Flower planter boxes between the petrol/diesel/gas-oil pumps (gas-oil is another name for red diesel apparently), no check on how much petrol you took - a couple of mechanics working on someone's car - it was like stepping back 40 years.

Had ride with DarylB yesterday. As we both had intercoms we had a go at pairing them, which turned out to be a doddle. So it's the first time I've ever had the chance to ride and chat to another rider. I thought it would be a gimmick but I thought it really enhanced the ride.

Took my back wheel to the local bike shop yesterday for a new tyre. Malc, who owns the shop, had just finished MoTing a Vyrus. I've never seen one on the road, let alone got close to it. Amazing thing.

Malc also showed me some new OZ magnesium wheels the Vyrus owner wanted him to fit. Sexy doesn't even begin to describe them. I compared the weight of the OZ rear wheel and tyre with my SV wheel and tyre, and the OZ wheel must have been less than half that of the SV's. It is isn't often I drool over bike components but they were simply stunning.
