If I could get a good cup and afford the tax the government are lumping on it, I would own one, but, it is going to be something like £400 a year in tax soon for a cup where as a "W"-reg or older 3ltr GTV is and always will be £185 per annum in road tax

Very fair point, pre 2001 is way to go for large capacity cars!
