Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Cool. I loved the TV series of The Expanse so i'll probably go read it. The real physics portrayed in the series was seriously impressive. No narrative shortcuts like shields or warp drive - and the effects of growing up in low-G.
I read GOT long before the TV series. GRRM is either very busy or very lazy and he ain't getting any younger. The TV series is amazing but doesn't capture the depth and timing of the books. Nor 90% of the characters. I've given up waiting for the next book - i'm convinced it will never happen. Due to the TV series, it's no longer what he depends on for his bread & butter so he's not interested.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
I think GRR has a writers block. He's producing nothing apart from updating his website (occasionally). I have been reading his work from the very beginning, Dying of the Light in 1977. According to his website, his last published work (Not part of Game of Thrones) was in 2015. I gave up reading his last GOT novel because it had been so long since reading the previous book that I had no idea what was going on. I am 70 this year and life's too short to be waiting on the rest of the series, if they ever gets published.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
It was quite interesting this morning whilst travelling to work. It was ****ing down, the duel carriageway was almost a lake. I wasn't hanging around, when the front cylinder decided it didn't want to work anymore.
Bike didn't sound too great at 8000 rpm on one cylinder, obviously I slowed down fairly sharpish. I'm hopeless at searching on here so could one of you wonderful peeps remind me what is your preferred gunk to smear around the coil lead to stop water ingress. Ta I don't fancy repeating the experience. And before someone says why were you going so fast in the rain blah blah blah. I go fairly fast most of the time, one of the only things that keeps me sane. |

I use a bit of red rubber grease on the cap, but have you got a fenda extender fitted?
That's the cure for these front spark problems

Fit a fender extenda, stops the water getting that far. Then ensure the drain hole is clear in the cylinder head / cam covers by poking a wire through it (or better a smokers pipe cleaner.)

+1 to above, fender extender, clean drain hole, silicone grease around the cap.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Build date of new car still not confirmed, even though its supposed to get built this week. This was a big issue as my company car was at the end of it's lease last week and 'will definitely not be extended' according to my fleet manager - last Friday I was informed I can keep it as long as I need to!
There you go, two gripes for the price of one! |

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Thanks for the comments - I've got a fender extender, but it has been awhile since I changed the plug, or even went anywhere near it. Read over two years ago and 22,000 plus miles ago!
Ok so looks like I'll be cleaning everything, poking things in holes and smearing it all in handfuls of RRG. As I have a big pot of that. Once again thanks. |

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
virgin media... how many times do i have to tell them to stick their TV up their arzzz.
they are that desperate to keep customers they even offered tv+broadband for £45 which i was paying £65... if it were not for the fact that virgin have the best broadband in the country i would tell them to stick everything where the sun dont shine. good news is the freesat works a treat on the new tv |
